Nada ... except for the one in my camera bag ...

PS - Also scored a few goodies ... oops, I'll stop there ... "gear talk" and might make some jealous!

I say this every year John.

I am so envious. There is nothing like this here.

Nothing.

Oh well, bacon lovers shouldn't be the ones to blame and judge. We should take the high road.

Yes.

Yes we should.

Then Bert will learn that we lead by example.

And soon he will learn to love that which loves him back (bacon).

A bit Googlish, but close enough

Men jeg er redd ikke alle ville sette altfor stor pris på om vi gikk fullt og helt over på norsk. Det kan være at enkelte ville gått glipp av noen av de finere nyansene i de eleverte diskursene vi avholder her...

Thank you.

This stoopit tablet "autocorrects" everything.

Merci, Racer ... I am very lucky in this respect. There's another swap at Varades on the 24th which is about 1.5 hours NW of me ... so I will be hitting that one plus I have booked a B&B room at Bièvres for the weekend of the Paris area international swap, the biggest in France IMHO. I have a lot of gear to trade away and I have a blast doing it ... the "hunt" is half the fun for me. And camera gear takes up less space than 60's/70's muscle cars than I used to rebuild in OK. I used to have many a Chevy and Ford block code and head code memorized when I went "scrap diving" at the NE OK junk yards.

Since you asked , here's the haul ... for 25€, a mint Olympus Penn EE with box and a roll of film (the vendor said that it came with it).

The next is a group mug shot ... all very inexpensive and the OM2 was a trade for a Nikon FM + E 50/1.8 that I got at my thrift store for 4€ (I don't do Nikon and this OM2 will replace my other one that is cosmetically challenged). But, the best find was a "junk box" one which is in the middle ... a large format "SOM Berthiot Paris Olor 260/5.6" with 18 blades ... only 10€. If I cannot "Franken-lens" adapt it to a Pentax DSLR, I will passing it on at Paris for something else ... damn, I am a lucky SOB.

Everybody, if you all have a wish list item, shoot me a PM and I will put it on my "short list" ... I already have an item to find for dadipentak ... and hopefully it might be at Bièvres.

To end a good day ... a not-so-cheap bottle of Bordeaux

Salut, J

I thought of you the other night and wondered what you would think of a bottle of wine I bought at Aldis. They were out of my usual Winking Owl Shiraz, which is not too bad and gets decent reviews.....
$2.89 wine is worth a trip to Aldi

At $2.89 it is not too bad, and will only choke me a little as I try to chug it down. So...picked up a bottle of Spanish red wine and splurged at $4.99.

Reminded me of once when I got a mouthful of PVC pipe cleaner while working under a house. The aftertaste was so bad I had to get out of bed an hour later and brush my teeth again.

It appears there is not much connection between the cheap wines and the expensive $4.99 wines regarding flavor.....is that correct in most cases?

Regards!

Aww... I consider you guys "internet friends" which is both a little better and a little worse than "acquaintances", "coworkers", or "that homeless dude on the corner".

I... can't argue with that. It is fun, though! (well, sometimes)

On that other subject, all I'll say is it is astonishing that none of these self-declared experts, with their vastly superior knowledge of market trends, electronics and optical engineering, manufacturing, marketing and finance, and just running an international business in general, haven't designed their own product line and put those lazy and stupid people who have been doing it profitably for years out of business. Heck, since they've told me that it only takes three months to produce a new camera design, they should have done it ten times over by now. They're probably just too busy designing space probes while performing brain surgery.

We had a lovely bottle of 2002 Barossa Valley Shiraz last night. The cork was completely stuffed but the wine was surprisingly good considering the state of the cork. That washed down a bit of (Weber) bbq'd rare rump steak and, together with a green salad and garlic infused fried mushrooms and baby baked potatos and sour cream it really did go down nicely. We finished with a bit of home grown peach cobler and icecream. Sorry - I did not take any photos!
