Otis will not trust Shirley, he just won't do it.

Honest to gosh true story.
Otis loved that story......all except the end when the poor little fellow was kicked out and became an orphan.

Ohh, you can't trust squirrels near peanut butter suet cakes for birds. Guess how I found that out.
They love peanut butter. I put it on the Cheater Branch every so often. It's funny to see two or three try to go for it at the same time!

You guys have fun today. I'm soon off to a big 50th anniversary dinner. Mrs Rupert thinks a lot like me...we could live without it. Sat is her housecleaning day and she said she had rather be doing that than going to a big fancy dinner. I'd rather be sitting here snapping at birds and squirrels and doing....not much of anything.

She did promise me she would divorce me before she would allow this to happen again! I appreciate that Mrs Rupert, that's why I still love you after all these years!

Regards!

Not to worry, 50th's only ever come around once.

Otis' fame has spread, to Austria. Today I was walking down the street and saw a Mercedes come to a halt to allow a squirrel to cross the street. The driver must have been concerned in case Otis had gone on holiday.

Papa Murphy's pizza in the oven, Jeff Buckley's rendition of Hallelujah in my earphones, and a dram of Ardbeg 10 in a Glencairn glass.

It doesn't get much better.

Got the radiator on the 8N refilled with coolant (no gas please). Got the Stihl 028 fired up. Cut up the downed trees from the recent windstorm and loaded in the wagon an ready to take down by the river for a nice fire this evening.

Popped into the house real quick to invite Mrs. Racer along for the ride down below and found her making peach and nectarine smoothies.

She asked if I wanted one.

Is a frog's butt watertight?

My smoothie also has some Baileys and Malibu in it.

So the ride down to the river is gonna be delayed a bit.

Oh yeah.

And whilst enjoying my midafternoon beverage, I see the prerace is on from Texas.

I might not get down to the river today.

I see not much has happened here today? Must have been missing old Rupert...or maybe just Otis?

It was a good day here. Lots of family and good food. I won't post a lot of shots of everyone...just two of the best parts of my last 50 years .

My Mom...wouldn't be here without her! (with my youngest sister)

Rain delay.

Who is it that is always boasting about that hot, dry Texas weather around here?

Anyway, went ahead and drove the 8N down to the river, unloaded all the freshly cut wood by the firepit. Then I cleaned up the overgrowth and decay on the foot path that goes down the bank.

Had a bottle of Becks, then rode back up above with the tractor and wagon, put the chainsaw and other implements of destruction away and came in for the evening.

Finally quit raining down in Texas and the race was on.

Mrs. Racer made us a nice dinner, fillet of sole and string beans. Nice big frosty glass of milk.

Now I'm wondering if Kyle Busch is gonna sweep it again this weekend, or if Junior will get a win.

Yep, Kyle is running 3rd and Junior just passed Hamlin for 6th.

Go Dale!

And Busch does it again. Won the Grand National race yesterday and the Cup tonight.

The kid is on a tear.

Swept both races last week at Martinsville.

After recovering from his crash at Daytona last year and missing several races he came back and took the championship.

He is shaping up for another one for 2016.

I've never got the appeal of car races. My dad loves his Formula 1 on Sundays, but all I see is cars going round and round in circles for hours, always along the same ideal line ...

Now, with a bit more action and a non-circular track I might actually enjoy races. Always liked the kind of stuff Top Gear did

Bad form Mrs/Ms M0dulator, there is a rule that everyone who posts has to read from the start.
One of our own special mods will be on to you very soon!

Rupert - Congratulations from me too. Sorry, I've been out all day using my Pentax!
And Photolady, yes, Rod is 100% correct - It's indeed a requirement of this thread that you read ALL all the foregoing posts. There will be a test tomorrow. (Go back a few pages to see some of the obscure quizz questions.)

Have, from the beginning of this thread been moderating it, so yes, I've read all of it, just not this morning.
