Regarding bacon haters in combat: on the one hand, you know they won't be distracted by thoughts of yummy delicious crispy bacon - definitely a plus. Also, they've been hardened by years of being treated as an outcast. OTOH, they don't really have anything to live for, so when the Velveeta hits the fan, they may just charge forward and get everyone killed. It's a tough call.

It's our 20th wedding anniversary today. I think that deserves some bacon!

Yes, and while it's unfortunate to apply Godwin's Law to any thread, especially this esteemed one ... Hitler was a vegetarian. Just sayin'.

Our spam-eating forefathers fought that their descendants might be able to enjoy bacon in a free world.

That explains it then. His strange outlook on life was due to being surrounded with wurst. Wurst everywhere, and nothing for dinner.

Congrats, Mark. I've got through 24 years with my wife (we were actually married a decade in at Vegas) with the phrase 'Yes, dear.'

Congratulations! I can barely recall back that far, but my guess would be we were fighting like cats & dogs. The first 20 were pretty exciting, and not in a good way much of the time.
I hope yours have been as wonderful as our last 30 have been! Maybe the Mrs. got you whipped into shape faster than Mrs Rupert was at getting me tamed?

I hope you enjoy a wonderful evening together and can look for many more in your future!

I have to say, I have been bushwhacked and set up by you guys. I should have seen it coming.....you have turned on me like I'm the bad guy and that bacon hating Bert is now the hero. In the old P&R days I would have been a step ahead of you, but now that I am old and not of sound mind you have taken advantage of me.......talk about discrimination!

I expect what's coming next is the dreaded Mod Warning.....

Reason: "Rupert Type" harassment and discrimination of a bacon hater.

Where was Otis to warn me this was coming?

We're very liberal here in New Zealand. Anybody can marry anybody. Crimes are punished with a slab on the wrist with a wet bus ticket. So, it would not be fair for us to discriminate against poor Bert for not liking bacon.

A slab on the wrist?

A slab of what?

Bacon?

I'm going to an anybody wedding in a couple weeks. My niece asked for the recipe for my baked bacon-wrapped Club Crackers with brown sugar for hors d'ouvres for the Rehearsal Dinner. *

Not before 1937, apparently. According to the google-surfing I just did, he may have gotten the idea from the writings of Richard Wagner, who may have gotten it from his one-time buddy Friedrich Nietzsche. Given what Nietzsche did for philosophy, Wagner did for music, and Hitler did for international relations, I think I'll have a bacon cheeseburger for supper, just in case.

A zealous convert? Should have known.

Most of his philosophies were borrowed from others.

Oddly, he wasn't even close to the weirdest of the Nazis - check out Himmler's beliefs, including about the supernatural.

Between mouthfuls of bacon, of course!
