So true...and it is hard to resist with a constant bombardment from the media all aimed at keeping us angry and our blood pressure boiling. Surely there are a few good things happening in this world?....but they apparently don't boost ratings or bring in big dollars from sponsors.

You can't avoid it unless you just hibernate, so for me I just learn to live with it and try to concentrate on what really matters in my life and how to find peace and serenity where and when I can. I can find it pretty easily if I try, it has not vanished from the face of the earth...though you'd think it has from the 24/7 media coverage of all that is ugly.

There are times to get angry....yesterday I had an experience that got me there. I was in the customer lounge waiting for service on Mrs Rupert's car. There were a few others in there, an old guy, a middle aged lady, and a young guy. In came a guy I'd guess around 50 and plopped down two seats from me. I nodded as he sat down and kept reading the magazine I was glancing through.
I noticed the guy was heavily concentrated on his cell phone, and punching in like crazy. Texting? Not my concern, everyone does it....well, I never have but I'm an old dinosaur.

In a couple of minutes I hear this moaning and groaning and loud explicit language...the fool is watching porn and has the volume wide open. The lady started to fidget and I turned to the guy and told him to cut the volume immediately. He gave me a go to hell look but did cut it. Then a controversial decision by the Supremes came on the big screen TV and the guy went ballistic. Cursing and threatening and standing and yelling at the TV. Once again I told him, cut the language or else. He asked what I was going to do......I told him keep it up and you'll see. He then told me he should kick my ass. Be my guest....assault on the elderly will get you an automatic 5 years in the slammer...but the worst part is what happens to you after I let you take the first swing.....so go for it. He opened the door and walked out. Where he went I don't know, the car was ready and I paid and left.
What the hell is happening in our society? The lady thanked me, the old guy was half asleep and I think missed it and the young guy said nothing.

You know, it's scary out there. I am glad it was me in there and not Mrs Rupert.....the guy would be DOA....no kidding.

Your run-in with that obnoxious idiot reminded me of a scene from Breaking Bad.
The main character, Walter White, had a run-in with this obnoxious "businessman" earlier in the series.

School Holidays have just started here in Scotland. Naturally the Summer has just changed into Early Spring / Late Autumn / Warm Wet Winter (take your pick). The sun is still warm though but you have to look hard to see it. It gets a lot better in late August when the schools go back. Weather however does not stop the children and daddies from building sandcastles on our magnificent beaches. They are just as hardy as Canadian Campers; the children that is!

Lots of rage out there...I try to avoid that, but it is damn difficult sometimes. In my youth it was a different story. I once horrified Mrs Rupert when I yanked a guy out the window of his car....it was justified, but in today's world it might get you killed. It got that guy in jail, but I would not do it nowadays....even if I could.

Our Grand Master in HapKiDo was mugged once...
He's old and looks frail... but he is strong and fast!
He said he give the mugger small pain so he wets his pants, not big pain for that would have been... you guessed it!

We were camping in the Black Hills this weekend. Spotty cell service.
The good news is that we stayed up North so we wouldn't get snowed on.

Under the stars and I'm impressed, otherwise I am not.
Reminds me of this joke:
The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert. After they got their tent all set up, they fell sound asleep.

Some hours later, Tonto wakes The Lone Ranger and says, "Kemo Sabi, look towards sky, what you see?"
The Lone Ranger replies, "I see millions of stars."

"What that tell you?" asked Tonto.

The Lone Ranger ponders for a minute, then says, "Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me Saturn is in Leo. Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. Theologically, it's evident the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What's it tell you, Tonto?

Tonto is silent for a moment, then says, "Kemo Sabi,
you dimwit! It tell me someone stolen tent."

Nice.

But I wonder if it is really possible to short the battery like that with a wet squeegee. Television can be so misleading.

The Lone Ranger saw Tonto laying in the road with one ear to the ground. Tonto said "Wagon come. Man, woman, small boy. Wagon pulled by two horses. One white mare, one brown stallion."
LR said "Wow! You can tell all that by listening to the ground?"
Tonto said "No. Run over me 20 minutes ago."

Today I came home and there was a car parked awkwardly near my house, nearly blocking the driveway about 15 people use. I went inside and found the keys of a rental car there - the car parked outside. But it was in the name of the person who moved out 9 months ago and I did not want the rental car. So I rang the phone number on the envelope. The lady said she was the insurance company and this was not an accident. So I asked if she could take the details and tell the owning company to take their car away. No, she could not make out going phone calls. So I said, use your mobile, to which she answered that she is not allowed to use her mobile. She gave me a phone number, allegedly to the rental company for which she was the insurance representative, and it turned out to be a different company. That man gave me a number and transferred me to another rental company, which turned out to be yet a different one that had nothing to do with the car. So I thought I would entertain the local police by taking the keys to them and asking them to sort the matter. But it was after 6pm, so they were closed. So I went home, planning to go to the local letter box to put the envelop in with RTS on the envelop, for the rental company to get the keys back in 2-3 days and then they would come to get their car. On the way I stopped and searched for the phone of the rental company. The first number got a 'not valid number' message. The next number got 'our office is open ...' message, and nothing useful, like transferring me to some representative of the rental company with whom I could discuss the problem. I went on home. Then I saw my neighbour. He knew the whereabouts of the addressee. This is yet another example of the very poor back office work I have found in English businesses. Almost every account I have had has had some kind of failure to get things set up right first try, and with some companies more than one different saga. And I have only been here for 9 months.

The local radio was reporting the English loss in the soccer against Iceland last night and said England is the only country to do something to get themselves kicked out of Europe twice in four days. There are interesting turns of phrase and convolution of ideas in English humour which makes it rather nice.

The one century remembrance of the Battle of the Somme is coming up this week.

Same here. The smaller town police stations shut outside office hours. Only the ones in larger towns/cities are open at night. Police also do not carry guns.

In Small Town Texas, Police carry weapons but if you physically go to Police Station to tell them in person of an emergency ..... ( in the after hours or on weekend) The doors are locked.... Building is Closed. Ahgggg had that happen once. Whyyyyyyy?????? Lol, have to make phone call. Unfortunately the more interesting phone calls could make the monthly 'police report' resulting in the caller's general address posted in the paper. Ex: " Woman from 600 Block of Pecan St called because grandson refuses to go to school."
