Dan Cooper does.
Bonus points for not referring to him as "D.B." cooper.

The D.B. was made up by the media. He purchased the ticket under the name Dan Cooper.

From Wikipedia:
QuoteQuote:
Local police and FBI agents immediately began questioning possible suspects. One of the first was an Oregon man with a minor police record named D. B. Cooper, contacted by Portland police on the off-chance that the hijacker had used his real name, or the same alias in a previous crime. His involvement was quickly ruled out; but a wire service reporter (Clyde Jabin of UPI by most accounts,[43][44] Joe Frazier of AP by others[45]), rushing to meet an imminent deadline, confused the eliminated suspect's name with the pseudonym used by the hijacker. The mistake was picked up and repeated by numerous other media sources, and the moniker "D. B. Cooper" became lodged in the public's collective memory.

Hmmm ... Rupert also has a record of jumping from heights. Do we know what he was doing in 1971??

Yep. Shoes in one hand, and holding his pants up with the other.

Nope, it wasn't me..not in '71 anyhow. In '62 I was jumping out a window and taking hot lead in the trunk of my '55 Chevy...but I didn't break anything. I did leave one shoe behind and never got it back. I still remorse over it , they were almost new and my favorite pointy toe black loafers. Five years later I almost married that girl....but I met Mrs Rupert and never went out with her again.
It wasn't the first shoe I lost....the other one was lost when a wolf got it...no kidding...a real wolf....but it's a long story and I'm tired after a very hard day.

Got a paid shooting job today......Otis brought me an old tin can full of peanut hulls for a front page shot of him on the next issue of Gentleman Squirrel Monthly.

Here is the unedited version he wants on the cover ....

It says in the header text..."Don't Get Screwed...Buy the genuine issue of Gentleman Squirrel Monthly" :D

Jim...call me in the morning...I'm outta here tonight....spent all day in financial meetings and my mind is worse than usual and my body too.
It was necessary stuff, I guess, but very frustrating to be with know-it-all experts and not being able to wear my farm pants.

Here is an old 727. Built in 1963, back when Jim was jumping out of bedroom windows and dodging buckshot.

I have flown on a few like this, even boarded and deplaned via the rear stairway.

Classic jet airplane travel!

Hey, the long famous and still unsolved hijacking of a 727 is history from my corner of the world. I have been fascinated by the story ever since it was broadcast on the evening news so many years ago.

If the guy wasn't killed by the jump and did survive, I would almost wager that he is likely passed away by now, and we will never know the truth about what happened that day.

I have also flown on a good many of those way back then. I liked the last rear seats because that is where the stewardesses sat....but it was also very noisy there. Flew first class a time or two and there was a world of difference in the noise.
If I recall correctly, wasn't someone sucked into one of those engines once? I can't remember the scenario........can you?

Regards!

On the 5th anniversary of the hijacking Paul Harvey did a "The Rest of the Story" story on it. The story was about the Statute of Limitations. It was up on that day and, assuming cooper was still alive, the money was his. One little glitch though. As of that day he owed over $280,000.00 in back taxes and penalties.
