A book deal would have been worth a fortune.....unless he was dead and couldn't tell his story? Otis says he fell in the deep woods and was eaten by wolves...like the one that ate my loafer. That would be my guess too.
Some of the cash was found many years later near a riverbank. How it got there is pure speculation. Maybe he planted it to look like he died.....surely he had a plan after jumping? Maybe he was just an idiot.....there is no shortage of them.....even back in those days.

Anyhow ...I never got that phone call this morning. I waited and waited.....held off on feeding the animals until after 10am...made them angry......It left me sad, depressed and distraught. Otis recommended suicide, and I considered it, but then remembered that when my ice cream sandwich melted and half of it fell to the ground the other day he also suggested suicide as a remedy for my grief. Sometimes I do wonder if Otis is really my pal?

Couldn't have...Otis doesn't believe in Sasquatch, and we know Otis is an expert on the woods...and most everything else.....excepting a little snowfall once in a lifetime.

Here is an old 727. Built in 1963, back when Jim was jumping out of bedroom windows and dodging buckshot.

I have flown on a few like this, even boarded and deplaned via the rear stairway.

Classic jet airplane travel!
Took my first commercial flight on one of those! I've forgotten how many rides I've taken on the 737. There's a plane that could do a remarkably fast stop on a short runway.

Hey, the long famous and still unsolved hijacking of a 727 is history from my corner of the world. I have been fascinated by the story ever since it was broadcast on the evening news so many years ago.

If the guy wasn't killed by the jump and did survive, I would almost wager that he is likely passed away by now, and we will never know the truth about what happened that day.
After they found that wad of washed up money I think it became clear that Dan, or whoever he was, may have got his jump wrong somehow.
