Sorry, Sasha. To participate in this thread you have to read all pages and score a minimum of 93 on the 500 question quiz.
We do, however, waive that requirement on occasion, and will do so in this case. (but only because it's an Olympic year)
Welcome to "The Thread About Nothing".
Softie.

Surströmming. And it's lightly salted (in order avoid rotting) and then fermented.
Fermented but not rotted. Isn't that a distinction without a difference?

All I know is that surströmming is distinctly different

But these are all Swedish matters - you'll have to ask them...

From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surstr%C3%B6mming):
Have you ever had Surstromming.? The videos were both interesting and disgusting.

What is that, two in the past couple of days?
They'll never know we mean no harm.
Hats off to their intelligence though.

The closest I've come was Rollmops. (Pickled herring) And that seems tame by comparison.

It's not for everyone...is it?

Tonight is hot dog night....some Aldi hot dogs (.79 cents for eight ) with melted Velveeta and some Hormel chili sauce served over authentic sourdough bread. Gonna be a real treat!

Mrs Rupert likes the Aldi dogs better than the high priced ones, better flavor and texture. Even after I read her the ingredients she still prefers them. Real chicken, pork, various appendages, snouts and spouts, lips and lungs...and a line that only says "parts are parts!". Me too...delicious to eat right out of the package cold too.

It's like spam. The pink color is mostly food coloring.

This just in!
Popcorn update.
Dateline South Dakota.

The Habanero popcorn was delicious. Fruity and buttery but by no means too hot to be enjoyed.
Last night it was time for the Ghost Pepper popcorn.
Distinctly different flavor, and a fair bit more intense. Very tasty. It was still below my discomfort threshold, but Mrs. Parallax drew the line there. Three pieces and she was done.
I ate the whole bag.

Hopefully that didn't turn into a Johnny Cash song a few hours later.
