It reminds us of how uncertain the future is for all of us.
I'm sorry for your loss, Mark.

The coastal scrub pines blocked all but a tiny bit, in two places, only viewable from the deck on the third floor. It didn't make for a good composition, and since I was dealing with the inflamed pancreas I did not even attempt to make any photos of it.

I did shoot some on the beach, and in the dunes. Still working my way through the processing, but here is one from the beach.

It's just as well. If you've seen on inflamed pancreas, you've seen them all.

And it is one thing I hope to never see again.

And a bit further up the road from Ocean Park is an historic town, Oysterville. I went out that way a couple of times during this trip, and rediscovered something I found about 35 years ago.

That's right, a Ford Flathead V8 engine, partially buried in the seawall.

I saw this the first time I visited the area back in the early 1980's, and shot some images of it on film. During this trip I was out exploring a bit. I had stopped and stepped out of the car, and while standing on the berm something drew me to walk around some.

As I was walking about I nearly stumbled over it.

It surprised me how so many years later I walked right up to the very place I had been so long ago.

Now I need to budget some time and rediscover the film images of this scene.

Very sad news indeed, Mark. I'm sorry to hear of your losses. Please accept my condolences. You are so correct about our lives being short and fleeting and we are reminded of this so often at the time of dear friends passing.

Hope you're okay, Mark, because it wasn't someone you had little contact with.
Not sure what you mean? But yes, a shock with both.

Thank you Glenn. Since the Roman era, we've had about 80 generations. Between my ancestors leaving Europe and myself, we've had 6 generations. I know almost nothing about my great-grandparents. So, in 3-4 generations, very nearly all of us become no more than a name on a legal document or on a wall and sometimes not even that. Dang - I'm depressing myself.

Nice one Racer! Somehow, I think that flathead is beyond saving. One must wonder how it ended up there? Abandoned car, or used as a boat engine, who knows!
