You might reckon only kids could get away with that argument, Mark, but in fact, even top shelf philosophers have invoked it:

Thomas Aquinas, "The Argument from Efficient Cause"

To quote my kids ( this was yrs ago) after they had been goofing off in the living room and I found they had knocked a ceramic vase off a shelf and it broke everywhere. I ask them how it had got broke and they said...... "IT FELL". Yes evidently 'It, the vase, decided on it's own to jump off the shelf and commit suicide.

So elasticity of stuff is necessary, since otherwise there could be communication at greater than the speed of light. Implication of paragraph 2.b.

Keep the cow.

Milk her.

Make cheese and butter, and enjoy the wholesome goodness of fresh milk.

Slaughter the steer.

Enjoy all the varied cuts and portions.

Mix with vegetables fresh from the garden, or canned/frozen that you had the foresight to put away from your bountiful harvest.

Life is good.
