Sure. Just as soon as the value of my home here on an island in the middle of Lake Superior quintuples with a ready buyer, I'll sell and move in your direction. I got this mortgage paid off and I don't want another one going into retirement.
I can relate.

We have our slice of Paradise here by the river. Not paid for yet, but I'm working on it.

And I've got a lot of sweat equity here too. I'm not interested in letting it go and plan on it being the last place I live.

But and island would be very cool. Makes me a bit jealous.

I use to collect vintage Coleman lanterns, but not anymore.
Here's a few of them.
Nice Bob.

I have a collection of old oil lamps partly because they are cool, but also because I live in the sticks.

Every time the wind blows or it snows trees take the power out.

And a guy's gotta be able to see in the dark winter night.

Nothing like the excitement of seeing a branch bending and twisting with a nice big catfish.
First fish I ever caught was a catfish. Almost as long as I was tall. I was around 4 or 5.

I love catfish, good eating.

Whether you're rich or poor, it's better to have CFS for dinner.
I'm trying to decide between leftover pasta con broccoli or a big baked potato with bacon, cheese, and sour cream.

Spent a whopping 45 bucks at Aldi today, saw no cute chickies in leggings, just old folks like me.
Too bad about the limited range of sights and attractions offered by Aldi today.

A longtime friend and former co-worker (at the power company) has just been named artist of the year by a local art group.

Check it out: My Swirly Brain

She is very resourceful, and often reuses things she finds in her work, and sometimes paints everyday items, like a bowling ball that looks like a globe, a mixing bowl that hangs on a wall looking like a monoboob (she has a recurring theme of single breasted women and creatures in her work). She also has decorated her home, the fireplace hearth and mantle, the light switch covers, and her art hangs everywhere. She has worked in many mediums, watercolors, oils, acrylics, encaustic.

Her pets also feature prominently in her work, and there is always a brief 'story' on the back of each one.

Have a look, inside of the Swirly Brain of my artist friend.

I started fishing for catfish when I was younger than what I can remember. Catfish, in my [not so] humble opinion is one of the few finned fish (as opposed to shellfish), and the only freshwater fish, that is worth eating.
Someone gave me a walley once. I've eaten rice cakes that had more flavor. Trout is slightly better than walleye but not enough so that I'd ever order it in a restaurant.

Do you get Rainbow Trout over your side of the country, Jim?

The species was imported here and if you leave the skin on, barbecues very nicely (put lemon slices into the incisions!).

Like you, I'm not a massive fan of finned fish, but it's one I don't mind.

Yes, rainbow trout, as far as I know, can be caught in every state. If not every one they're certainly in the overwhelming majority.
Shellfish, squid, octopus, virtually anything from the sea, is as good as it gets, to me. I must say though, after doing some studying on octopus I'm a bit reluctant to eat them as they are extraordinary, intelligent animals. OTH, they on live 2-3 years anyway so.........

Can't go wrong with that. It may be our meal for tomorrow night.

With one exception, it has been pretty poor pickins' at Aldis lately. A pretty rough lookin' crowd when I picked up a few bottles of Winking Owl yesterday. I don't think Aldis is ever going to be a "Chick Magnet"?

Regards!

Awesome Mark! About 45 - 50cm?

We get those in the river here. Very good cold smoked like the local Indians used to do it, over alder.

Yeah.

Bacon.

I bet it would go real nice wrapped around a piece of octopus, served nigiri style sushi.

I mean, doesn't this just beg to be wrapped in a juicy slice of thick cut bacon?

Oh yeah.

Yes, that one was about 45cm. Our minimum size limit is 40cm.
