We will be in Colorado next month to visit 2 kids and families, also spending some time in Estes Park.
Since we will be in the Denver area I Googled an old friend, one I haven't seen or talked to in years, hoping for a phone number and/or address.
Results showed he died in 2007 at age 62.
Is it a guy thing to be not only very sad but also pissed off, like you want to punch a wall or something?

So the same Thursday late afternoon, with nearly blinding neck pain and a wasp sting on my leg. I am on a scissor-lift with a 18 volt Milwaukee drill hooked to a 2" hole-saw cutting a hole thru the roof of a trailer. Hit a steel beam, hole-saw jams up and the drill damn near breaks my right wrist.

in the early seventies we were on a job where the studs were fireproofed wood
incredibly heavy and incredibly hard
all the trades bitched nonstop

my partner was 5'9'' and 130 pounds?
he climbed on a six foot step ladder with a Milwaukee hole hawg and a three inch auger bit
when he got out of the doctors' office he had three broken ribs, ten stitches in his cheek and a dislocated/sprained wrist (a striking shade of purple)
our end of the job took about three months to complete

would you care to guess which lunkhead drilled the next several thousand holes?

So went to Lowe's and came home with ammo in my fight against stinging bugs. I really hate Wasps!

before the epa figured it out wasp stopper brand wasp stopper stopped wasps...right now

it turns out the cans contained mostly Freon
however while hanging thirty feet in the air being attacked by swarms of bees, wasps or hornets a person wants a definite and dramatic end to the aggravation
screw the environment

it really is more a question of technique

I retired early and have played pretty hard for the last many years
most of the guys my dad's age are gone
a good chunk of the next generation have departed
the people my age are just beginning to retire but a surprising number are dead

I almost hate to pick up the paper or meet an acquaintance at the store or on the street

The problem with getting older is that we tend to go to more funerals than weddings these days. I lost an old friend to cancer just a few months back. He did not quite make 55. Always a shock to hear that someone you thought was alive and well is no more.

So, two weeks ago pulling up to the driveway on my bicycle and getting ready to dismount, got hung-up in the seat. Weight shifted to the front, front brake locked up and over the handlebars I went. Landed on the left knee, might have chipped my kneecap.

Fell asleep last Tuesday on the couch in the rec-room. Woke up the next morning with a massive pain in my neck, one of the little muscles was not happy at all. Still is not... getting better thou.

Wednesday went pretty uneventful except for couple times being forced to my knees by my neck.

So here is Thursday, doing better, neck is still giving me a fit.
I am at work, happy go lucky, before lunch I get stung by a wasp on my right leg, hurt like hell.

Fast forward to Saturday. Got ambushed by a wasp from behind while walking towards the pool to check chemical levels. This sucker got me good, the leg is swollen pretty bad even today.

Or maybe it's medical - Racer did spend years driving across all those time zones, I reckon he knows all that so we have to worry about his brain, right? Or is is Bourbon we ought to be thinking of... Hmmmmmmm
