Jim, regarding the Cognac and pain killers:
Most all medications that have a CNS (central nervous system) depressant effect say that you shouldn't use alcohol while taking the medication.
I've never understood the reason for that warning because it's been my experience that the two work really well when used concomitantly.
Same here.

What I didn't like was when the Quack, er, doctor, prescribed Gabapentin for radicular neruopathy, and I was expressly prohibited from using alcohol with it.

But lemme tell ya, one beer was like drinking a case.

Or three.

I decided I liked to enjoy a good beer now and then more than I wanted to not feel like my arms and legs were numb all the time.

And I eventually found a connection between getting regular exercise and eating better, with feeling better overall. I'm down about 60 pounds since I hung up the keys to Monstro, and since July when I began the work hardening upon returning to work have been getting regular exercise.

Amazing how such simple things have resulted in better overall health.

The numbness rarely bothers me now.

The chronic neck and back pain is nearly negligible.

I'm not sure if the artificial hip will ever feel normal and completely pain free, but it sure feels better than the original joint did for the last 10 or so years I had it.

And my left foot is kind of better than it was a year ago, but I wonder if the screws and Nitinol clip will present a lifelong relationship similar to the Titanuim hip.

I only wish I could get the foot doctor to advocate for me to get the right foot squared away.

We all make a make in this world, however large or small. Some of us leave a nearly indelible mark that transcends generations. Others barely a whisper.

Then there are guys like this: Bruce Williams Zaccagnino.

Such a unique individual.

Not here it wasn’t.

When I posted that comment it was about 2 hours past my bedtime, but still Thursday.

Barely.

Now, it is indeed Friday, 2:38 am, and I just killed the alarm clock.

For the last time this week.

Monday will be here way too soon.

There is a bright side though. The union contract stipulates that the company can’t compel us to work over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Yay.

Again.

But they always ask for “volunteers”.

I never work on any of the paid holidays.

I'd probably have used a shotgun for the job if my alarm clock woke me up at that hour

Getting woken up at that time to go out driving on icy roads while still bleary (not beery) eyed and half asleep.

Those warnings were written by the Church Lady on SNL. Mrs Rupert probably had something to do with it too......When inverted, they both often give great advice!

Well, and that's the reason Among pretty much everything else, the CNS regulates respiration and cardiac rhythm. E.g. the latter is controlled through the vegetative nervous system (Tr. sympathicus and N. vagus => just studying these for my first real exam on Monday ). Now imagine what happens if your CNS is being depressed (= lower activity), and you enhance that effect with alcohol.

I like my heart beating and my lungs breathing
