Ironic that something started off as being a "satire thread" has ended up being so focused on one sick person - but he deserves it.

Yeah, well, I think we have seen the warm and caring side of this gang more than once - and Rupert has never been shy when the need for such has surfaced. Even if this is the big, ugly Internet we still get to know each other and care for each other. Knowing each other in the physical world certainly gives another dimension, but "forum friendships" are real enough.

And it is disturbingly quiet in here.

But through our years of banter (not of the kind described by that word by UK pollies) we feel we have gotten to know many frequent contributors quite well. Therefore the others here have all become people with whom we have conversation, rather than avatars and typing fingers. A few times we have had events in which members of our group have said things that got a bit out of line, leading to a MOD doing something but most of the time we have avoided the flaming out or even writing inducements to flaming out by others. Pretty civil mob we are, aren't we.

Therefore we are concerned for our friend whom we know to be poorly, and quite evidently struggling considerably with his poorliness.

May he have peace not induced by those chemicals.

I could not have said it better myself.

But I found this only because of a side comment made on Rupert's "Squirrel" thread - other than being quieter than usual, that thread hasn't been affected by these events.

If he is still with us, it's obvious he's in quite a rough patch.
I've seen it with loved ones, and it is not easy to watch.

I have seen it too many times and as far as my family goes, I will be next in line if some disaster does not hit my immediate family before It is my time.
