BTW: Did I miss something, or have there still been no posts by Rupert/Jim? I keep checking for one.
perhaps
but I tried it after sitting with heavy equipment operator in a bar in the Yukon...it was his supper
natives were eating it at a café in BC as well

Canada has the best fries ever
a search for why suggests that animal fats are still used in the frying process

If you haven't seen the MythBusters episode, BEWARE of putting the candy called a giant jawbreaker into a microwave, but if you do, wear full face protection, heavy gloves, use tongs when you remove it, and DO NOT BITE IT!!!

They heated one in a microwave and put it into the jaws of a skull they'd rigged with a device to bite. It exploded, knocking out or breaking teeth. A drop of the filling hit the woman who worked with them for a while (the one who was a welder). She yelled and ran off to the nearest source of water to wash off the scorching goo. Apparently some children have lost teeth by biting on a microwaved jawbreaker.

I don't really see the appeal of poutine, give me haggis any day!

We use lard for everything here, from our own pigs too! Amazing stuff.

you are a determined young man, I must say

I have eaten a lot of food peculiar to culture and/or geography and have for the most part enjoyed it
but you persist in consuming peculiar food...guts and oatmeal?...that's just offal

I've wanted to try poutine, but I don't see the appeal of cheese curds.

I have made my own version of the horseshoe, popular in Springfield, Illinois.

years ago we stopped in a burg in northern Wisconsin
the menu in the café had cheese cuds

miss...what are cheese curds?
they're curds of cheese, she snarled

it turns out the little ****** was right

they were quite toothsome and we ate them at least once a day for a couple of weeks...breaded or plain they are worth looking for
culver's has pretty good curds if they have made it as far south as misery

your horseshoe looks good as well
mom used to make something similar with loose meat and she wasn't even from iowa
much later in life a couple of us explained what sloppy joes were supposed to be

the truth is everything tastes better with gravy...maybe even haggis

White gravy, brown gravy, red gravy....one of my favorites is my Mom's red coffee gravy for ham. They are all good!

Someone asked about old Rupert.....well, it is the first time I've felt well enough to be here for more than a few seconds lately...been in the hospital about a week once...been down and out at home....a struggle?....yes indeed, night and day, more or less...mostly more.
Great to see you guys all still here and continuing this most important work for the good of humanity. I hope to be able to join in a little more often and learn as much knowledge as possible before I go off to the wonderful Squirrel Heaven I have chosen as an alternative if I fail to make the grade to be with the "human kind". Either way, I feel comfortable and at ease with my eternal future.......and will no doubt see many of you guys once again without ceasing....so hang in there!
BTW-Otis informs that ending up in eternity with humans is a sure sign of failure. .....he said "look around Rupert...how can you disagree? " You know that damn Otis....always right!

Best Regards!
Rupert
