That is sad news Mark.
I know I will miss his stories and participation here.
But the memory will always stick.

Thanks for letting us know Mark.
As much as it has been expected, it doesn't ease the heart pain that I feel right now.
RIP Rupert.

I am sad. I will miss my Texan friend.

But, I shall not dwell on my grief, for that would be selfish.

Rather, I will celebrate Jim’s life, and take pride in having had such a great man as a friend.

Rest well my friend, and enjoy your reward.

It's a sad, sad day for those of us who knew and loved Rupert and his stories. My heart is heavy right now with this loss. I pray for his wife Gail, sons and his mom.

Feeling flat now, even though Rupert would be urging us to lift our chins. Knew it was coming, didn't make it easier.

Jim will be sorely missed, by his family and many friends including, of course, those of us who have interacted with him on PentaxForums and off.
Gail has asked that we help keep his memory alive and, of course, that of the eternal squirrel, Otis.

Jim has, over his life, helped a great many people and it's a great pity that we will no longer be able to hear more of his "Rupert stories". We think of Gail, Jim and Gail's sons and extended family and his mom during this difficult time. Please think of them this Christmas.
Thanks Mark for the news even though it is bad. I've known Jim from the internet starting with Dpreview, Flicker, and Pentax Forum since 2006. I will think of Jim and his family everytime I see a squirrel, bird or racoon until I join him. RIP.
Steve

I have been absent from this thread for too long, I fear, and it was only by accident that I caught news of Jim's passing. I did not know he was ill. I did take a few minutes just now to review his posts from the last several months and I will be extracting a few choice paragraphs for my own purposes. I believe his insights may be useful and worth sharing more widely than just a thread dedicated to the salvation of Tokyo and the free exchange of both the silly and the serious. FWIW, I do hope there is bacon in squirrel heaven.

This is very, very sad news Mark. I have not been on the forums long, but Rupert ( Jim ) certainly stood out from the crowd. Vale Jim, RIP mate.
