Easy for you to say Racer.
That getup is for nitro-methane. Ever had a whiff of nitro exhaust from a top fuel engine? Burns the eyes and nose, stings the skin.

Along with burned rubber it is heaven.

Even when it had been used as a stopper in a wine bottle, and for no other purpose than that contact with wine.

In these days of re-cycling, Tim, how can we be sure?

Am I wrong or do some of the posters to this thread like Bacon???
You're not wrong. Way back in ancient times, when newsgroups were the way to communicate, I used to be a regular on alt.2eggs.sausage.beans.tomatoes.2toast.largetea.cheerslove, the newsgroup dedicated to the FEB. The group name completely destroyed the rules about group naming, but it got in somehow and the powers that be (or were) let it survive because it was very active. The alt hierarchy was a bit permissive.

Although not part of the group name, bacon was a major topic. There were many recipes posted. Bacon featured. There were posts about where to buy the best bacon and north American members were not left out. Mail order sources were a regular feature. I don't think that we were able to help our Greek member

We were almost as good at sticking to the topic as this thread. The very first selfie I can remember was taken with a xatneP film camera using a mirror and posted to the group in around 2000. She was a part Comanche horse gentler, working on a horse breeding ranch in, I think, OK or KY. There is at least one other PentaxForums member who used to subscribe to that group. He (you know who I mean ) may remember the discussion we had about why Kentucky jam (jelly) was not really a very good substitute for marmelade.

I just had a look using google groups. What a horrible user experience that is. The aggressive one is still there. In fact, it looks like he's the only poster. Talking about interface ... we used ROT-13 to disguise words. It rotates each letter by 13. So A becomes N, B becomes O, etc. The News Client I used, Agent, had it built in. You could select some text, right click and apply ROT-13. You could undo it in the same way. So much simpler than spelling things backwards. We needed to use it because some of our members lived in places where the name of the town would cause the internet censor to reject any post because it contained rude bits. e.g. one of the guys lived in an old town in Yorkshire. It was in the Domesday Book in 1086. William the Conqueror made a mess of it in 1069 when he committed genocide against the northern English people. It has history before that. It's a name that's been around for over a thousand years. ROT-13 was the perfect way to get around the censors who decided that ancient English town names were pornographic. The name? It ends with "stone" It starts with "Peni".

Alas, the newsgroup died when one of the regulars became very aggressive. The group was not moderated. Its replacement closed FB group is boring.

Regards,
Richard.

Yes, and cork is valuable because of the impact of the wine industry on the supplies of the cork forests.

Do we really need to pursue the teenage boy discussions and activities. Even Rupert spared us this in all his stories of teenage boy exploits.

That town is not far from a couple of the towns named after a soccer teams: Huddersfield and Barnsley.

I think the problem our American friends have with that name is that they come in and mispronounce the name by putting the syllable break in the wrong place.

Rules fro pronouncing names:
1. It is very unlikely to sound like a rude word - except if it is foreign and the rude word sound is purely coincidental. Those are very rare. One of the rare examples are the rich American brothers who choose to pronounce their name as a brand of soft drink that comes in black rather than as the originating European language would have pronounced it.
2. Complicated names must flow easily if you get the rhythm right, rather than trying to pronounce every letter in the name.

Residents here are proud if their place was listed in the record of taxable places in 1086. Is that subservience to government?

A week or so ago I looked at a supermarket haggis here. The ingredients were not what I expected: pork lungs, beef fat, oatmeal. What happened to the sheep bits? And the ones I have seen are all like commercial sausages, packed in artificial skins rather than the traditional sheep stomach. I guess sheep stomachs are less regular sized so it is hard to make them in standard supermarket sizes.
Don't get the supermarket ****. You have to make it yourself if you don't live in Scotland.

What about black pudding. Pig blood and some grain product stuffed in a skin.
Also good.
