I think it most closely resembled a chocolate eclair in texture but the added cream certainly helped lubricate the arteries.

I am guessing that would power 30 km of cycling.

Sadly, I don't know. Another 2 and a half months before the surgeon will allow me on my bicycle again.

True. But I look at my bicycle every day. Can't ride it. Just look at it.

Nothing drinking the solvent will not fix.

Your preference: red, yellow or pinkish? Marlborough, Barossa, Hunter, ...

Barossa! But I'm not allowed those at the moment either.

Oh. Now I really do feel sorry for you

Barossa definitely produces some fine shoe polish, though.

Tinnitus?

Try working in an airplane factory. Wearing earplugs and earmuffs the noise is so high that it is impossible to communicate with someone while shouting at the top of your lungs.

The ringing in my ears never stops.

And yet, each year when they perform the hearing test required by law, they say I am not losing my hearing.

Right.

Right.
Might their philosophy be that you can't lose something you've already lost?

Or maybe they're taking a sorites paradox approach; losing some of your hearing doesn't make you deaf - until you're deaf, that is

Right.
the local SAM'S club has an independent hearing aid vendor who does a free hearing aid test to attract customers

If I didn't trust the employer's tests I would head there

most hearing aid vendors offer such a service

if nothing else, it establishes an independent test showing your current base line measurements

They take a baseline hearing test at the beginning of employment and then retest each year. That way degradation over time is documented.

But I think the sorites paradox is the perfect way to describe what happens to everyone who works there.
