So big they have their own railroad.

Yeah, the massive burnings off at the end of the season are supposed to be spectacular.

We grow a lot of wheat, barley (my dad farmed both, I'm a simple country bumpkin) and sugar. Very little corn, for whatever reasons.

It would explain a lot.

And how many would that be?

Gah. I guess I'll just go back to ignoring everything to do with Facebook again. I have to admit, though, that it's pretty impressive to make a product that instantly sends my blood pressure sky rocketing within seconds of logging in. It happened now, and it happened the last time I logged in some 10 years ago.

I've never joined Facebook.

My blood pressure is fine.

I use my cell phone for that.

Works great.

And no health issues.

The US Midwest produces plenty.

Yes, this is mine ... I do need to wear steel-capped work boots in case I drop it.

I find no practical need for a cellphone, just another way to drain your money. (I'm Scottish... in case you couldn't tell)

My everyday boots (at this time of year) are a pair of these, sourced at the local thrift store for the pricey sum of $8:

Also got a pair of these (not quite as cheap but still very reasonable at $10):

Very useful for those days when you have a low blood pressure event and feel all sweaty, feeble and nauseous.

Might save you from having to lie on the floor for a while.

Kinda messy.

There are many animal lovers here who would be offended.

What I can't understand is how bothered they are by road kill events. In Oz we just get a stronger roo bar so the vehicle is not damaged by the animal bouncing off the front.

Those led to the Taiwanese name which translates roughly 'the big brick thing'. (da ge da - really easy characters to recognise, so you seem so many shops selling them or services based on them.

Old? Me? Nah, haven't even hit half century yet.

And Bert's hardly out of the starting blocks!

Ah, well, I'm not trying to come across as a polyglot But still, I have no problems reading both kinds of Norwegian (duh), Swedish, Danish, and for the most part German. I prefer to at least have a go at Dutch and Afrikaans, as well as French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian before resorting to machine translation. How else would I learn anything?

Besides, from what little I have seen, Facebook lags a decade or so behind Google when it comes to translation. My eyes still hurt.

I'll consider it should the need arise. But I suspect I'll still prefer lying down. Or simply read a few posts in the Blues&Tumor section. Enough to increase the pressure somewhat, but usually not to life threatening levels.

So you would be old enough to be her daddy.

I didn’t mention Bert. Since she and he are close to the same age it wouldn’t be like he would be robbing the cradle.
