I am continuing to question the claim he is from Norway

this is how folks who are truly from Norway act:

“We always want to win,” said Fredrik Aukland, a TV sports commentator in Norway. “But modesty is a big part of the culture here. And Norwegians don’t go out much.” -

this guy has been to Africa at least once, so he claims

[ and he has posted great photos proving it ]

Of course they aren't the same! Bagpipes are objrcts that produce sound. Music is sound.

Yep, once.

Once in 1996 (a six month backpacking trip from Nairobi to Cape Town through 8 countries).
Once in 2003 (Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, and Swaziland)
Once more in 2003 (Ethiopia)
Once in 2005 (Tanzania)
Once in 2006 (Namibia and South Africa)
Once in 2007 (Cameroun)
Once in 2009 (South Africa)
Once in 2010 (Cape Verde)
Once in 2011 (Zambia and Zimbabwe)
Once in 2012 (Namibia)
Once in 2013 (South Africa)
Once in 2014 (Madagascar)
Once in 2015 (South Africa)
Once in 2017 (São Tomé & Príncipe)
Once in 2018 (South Africa)

Yeah, that's not even once a year

that proves my point

an unbiased quote

" . . . And Norwegians don’t go out much . . . "

now my geographic skills may not be up to expert level

but

to get from Norway to Africa

you have to go out

But you're quoting Fredrik Aukland, aren't you? He's been coaching the Swiss cross-country team, I believe. Which means he's been "going out". Which means he's not a Norwegian (according to Mr Sly Fox). Which, of course, means he can't be trusted (obviously, since he's not a Norwegian), and his assertion that Norwegians don't go out much is invalid.

Well, I guess that makes him a Norwegian after all, but a lying one.

I think.

No matter.

We're all Africans. I'm just trying to find my roots.

Well, we used to be Danish, so I'd say your expertise is well founded

Eirikr was an Icelander born in Norway, while Leifr was a Greenlander born in Iceland. But since Norwegians are such a humble and modest people we claim them both.

Eirikr had a quarrel with his neighbour in Norway, which lead to the neighbour's death. Eirkr then had to flee flee the country to settle on Iceland. Problem was, he didn't get along too well with his neighbours on Iceland either. More quarrels and dead neighbours led to Eirikr having to leave Iceland - and he went to Greenland. Things worked out a lot better on Greenland since he didn't have any neighbours there. By clever marketing and naming of the land (Greenland!) he managed to draw more settlers there, too.

Btw, I giess there might be some truth to the claim that Norwegians don't go out much. We still measure the distance to our neighbours in "stone's throws".

So you expect to learn about a country and its people by going to vantage points where the country is out of binoculars range, even?

In the ladies janitoring:
First: the Swedish ladies.
Second: the garlic girls from South Korea - the moniker has to do with the town they come from.
Third: the Japanese
Fourth: GB. Probably explains the state of the cleaning work performed where I work. I am really lucky, the usual cleaner in the area where I work is very good, so good she also gets called to other areas to remediate the state left by other cleaners.

Good to see you guys win something, too!

Damn, it's hard to be both humble and patronising at the same time!

I failed, didn't I...
