That's a lot of protein.

And cholesterol.
No one individual is ever likely to eat an entire egg in one sitting, as one ostrich egg is roughly the equivalent of 24 chicken eggs, according to the Wellsphere website.

Calories
A serving of ostrich egg equal to one chicken egg contains 83 calories, six more than an average-sized chicken egg. An entire ostrich egg contains approximately 2,000 calories, notes Wellsphere. Both types of eggs are approximately 47 percent protein and 45 percent fat.

Advantages
Ostrich eggs are much lower in cholesterol than chicken eggs, and a little lower in saturated fat, making them a healthier choice. Unfortunately, serving one is problematic unless you are feeding a very large family or group of people.

Robert is a good name.

Wink, wink.

Who cares about the weirdo chemicals. It is just, plainly, a lot of stuff to eat.

Grandson Bobby finally arrived about an hour ago, 7 lbs. 1 oz. First born for our youngest son and daughter-in-law.
A long hard delivery, but mother and child are doing fine.
Son is texting us pics, but I'll spare you all from newborn photos.

Wonderful news! Wishing Rob McBob IV (or whatever the succession number is!) a warm welcome!

Say no more (he said knowingly).

From Wikipedia: The name Robert is a Germanic given name, from Proto-Germanic *χrōþi- "fame" and *berχta- "bright". Compare Old Dutch Robrecht and Old High German Hrodebert (a compound of hruod "fame, glory" and berht "bright").

My sister is the youngest of four in my family as well; me being the eldest. When my kids were very young, we lived in Switzerland for a while and she did not get to meet them for quite some time. I bought them a large stuffed ant and promptly named it Auntie Kathy. My sister of course was fabulously impressed when she found out years later.

I hate dealing with idiots

yesterday pulled into an automatic car wash

had to go behind the store and enter a narrow lane to get to the wash

got to the entrance and tried to enter code

told wash was not operating

had to back up the narrow lane

went in to complain that no notice had been posted before entering the lane

asked clerk " is there a manager around? "

"yes "

[ several seconds delay ]

" do you want to speak to one? "

" yes "

unspoken thought: [ why did you think I asked, do I look like I'm taking a poll ? ]

had to wait to speak to manager [ of course I was in a hurry ]

told manager that notice should be posted before entering the lane

manager said " there wasn't any where to do post a notice "

I said " how about your big sign showing wash options right before you enter the lane ?? "

This is why I escape to the countryside on a regular basis (well, and the beauty of course). The chance of encountering a blue-billed fancy-tailed idiot on a hiking trail or in my canoe is slim to none.

up hill or down hill ?

I have friends who do the BAK every year

Biking Across Kansas | BAK | Annual Cross State Bicycle Tour of Kansas | Bicycle Kansas

I say they cheat

they start in the west and head east

as you can see, Western Kansas is higher than Eastern Kansas

" The lowest point in Kansas is 679 feet above sea level in the southeast corner of the state. It is at the Verdigris River in Montgomery County.
The peak of Mount Sunflower, the highest point in Kansas at 4,039 feet above sea level, is found about 1/2 a mile east of the Kansas border with Colorado. It's about 58 miles west of Oakley, Kansas.

Kansas Base and Elevation Maps

so they are going " down hill " all the way
