But no, I don't follow it. I sort of like the tactics of it but I think all the cheating has ruined it. No fun watching some guy making an impossible uphill break just to be reminded of why it is possible after all...
Yes. Stage 1 Noirmoutier-en-l'Île / Fontenay-le-Comte and Stage 2 Mouilleron-Saint-Germain / La Roche-sur-Yon completed.

Just curious Mark, did you type all that straight from your brain, or copy/paste?
If it's the former, I am impressed.

No need to be impressed Bob. That was a copy/paste.
Stage 3 is Cholet (time trial). That was easy - I did not have to copy paste!

never have really followed the Tour de France

but I have seen video and the crowd are not only just off the road, I have seen members of the crowd step onto the road in front of the cyclists

does anyone know if there has ever been collisions between the spectators and the cyclists?

Pretty chaotic, with the crashes and all.

Aussie Richie Porte would have been the race favourite if a penalty had been applied to Chris Froome (who tested over the limit in both Sample A and Sample B last year).

Spanish champion Alberto Contador once punched a spectator who was making contact with him.

The organizers love letting the public be amongst the cyclists on the mountain climbs (which are slower), the cyclists themselves … less so!

And then there's this …

Yes it's a fine balance between crowd participation and crowd interference. I have seen several spectators shoved off the road by the team / cameraman / commiseur motorcycle riders and crashes involving spectators happen in almost every Tour.
It's also not uncommon for cyclists to shove / punch / slap spectators that get too close. You'll see that they have barriers in many places for crowd control but it's simply impossible to barrier all the areas where crowds can be a problem - usually the hill climb stages. Most fans on the side of the road do not do anything stupid and they'll usually pull the running fools off the road out of the cyclists' way.

I have a suspicious mind

I know a lot of money is involved and if someone takes out a rider " accidently "

I would be real interested in checking out that person real carefully

Just watched Travis Pastrana make the same jump Evel Knievel failed at, the Cesar’s Palace fountain in Las Vegas.

149 feet.

Then he jumped face first into the fountain.

Earlier made two jumps, jumping over 16 Greyhound buses, and 52 cars.

Penalty? By the UCI?

Yeah, it was naive of me to think the sport would be administered better after the Armstrong fiasco.

The Tour's organizers didn't want Froome there, and neither did the fans, who booed him at the team Introductions.
