Here's a hint.

When Armstrong was stripped of his seven titles, they did not re-award them to the second placegetters.

That would be taking a prize from a drug cheat who was caught and giving it to one who hadn't.
... that's probably because the first ten of every single tour he won were implicated one way or another in the use of banned substances, or were the subject of at least serious allegations...
IIRC there was only one "clean", a Russian who died very young, can't recall the name and I'm on mobile right now.

I was more interested in the 6 year old McDonald's burger and fries, then eBay pulled it when the bid was at $150.

So there is a seven year gap in the list of winners then?
A lot of the French that I came across said that I resembled Lance, once they found out that my accent was of American origins ...

No one says that anymore now ... wonder why ?

I thought only the waiters in France were known for their politeness to tourists

especially if you attempt to communicate with them in French

Quite the contrary! Haven't you heard of... say... the Festina Scandal, or the Operación Puerto?
BTW it is my opinion that he would never have been caught if he didn't get too "greedy" and made a comeback...
He alredy had a close call much earlier, but got a Get Out Of Jail Free Card of sorts with a back-dated prescription for a cortisone cream.

The Documentary The Armstrong Lie is worth watching, even if you're not a bike fan.

The references I couldn't link before:

Around 1:10

And this, with some "idiocy demonstrations" right in the first minute.

Whoa ... man, are you generous.

I was thinking of a fiver ... just that.

A lot less "zeros" to type that way ...

I have to relate my experience in all humbleness and seriousness. I have only been to Normandy, really, but there we were met with warmth and friendliness by all we encountered.

Even the traffic was polite. I really, really hadn't expected that.

Ah, but you are not an ugly American.
I'm guessing most people are nice to all that freakin' humbleness.

Of course, of course. How could anyone not be blinded by my humbleness!

But you should go to Normandy. Americans are not unwelcome. Quite the contrary. They have not forgotten. Very much not forgotten.
