Yep, they eat fush and chups and if the cricketer smashes the ball over the fence it is a sux (although I have heard it pronounced a bit more like sex)

Remember, save water, shower with your girlfriend/wife/significant other.
Actually, shower with all three at the same time.

Oh yeah.

Hi guys. Been playing Racer the last three days. Rochester, NY to near Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Next day to Bismarck. ND to finally clear up the last of the family business there. Then to Fargo, ND for the night. Actually stayed in almost brand new Howard Johnson's. I thought that they were out of business. Today from Fargo to western Indiana near Chesterton. Tomorrow the last 500 miles to home. About 3,100 miles in 4 days. Alas, not to for a quick trip to Yellowstone so I had to content myself to sitting a bluff in Bismarck overlooking the Missouri River for a bit. One of my favorite places to ponder stuff. At least I got past Chicago this evening. It will make tomorrow's drive much easier.
A whirlwind tour where you don’t get a chance to stop and enjoy any of the sights?

What’s up with that?

Just stick to the script Dave, and everything else will be fine.

Hi Racer

See English is different everywhere
Put drivers in line ( Fine them and or licence disqualification if not adhearing to road rules )

Dave
I see, thanks for the clarification.

The commercial vehicle enforcement officers do what they can, but the loggers use the CB radio to look out for them.

Hi Racer

Maybe the enforcement officers need unmarked vehicles with cb to flush them out.
Thats the Aussie way of doing it .I think it works.
It keeps you on your toes at least.

But isn't English mostly French anyway?

Ok, lots of other influences as well. First from latin through the Romans, then again when Christianity arrived. Then a 200 year period with lots of Danish (and Norwegian) settlers - resulting in a fusion of Anglo-Saxon and Old Norse into Old English. Then Willy came over from Normandy in 1066 with his Norman French (which itself was a twice over creolised language already), mixing it with Old English into Middle English (although it took several hundred years for the languages to cross over the class barriers and mix properly).

As the nobility shifted to speaking Middle English, Latin replaced French as the written language and contributed with yet more words. Then there's been new waves of loaning words from other languages in more recent times, mainly French (which has changed a lot since Norman French and thus introduced yet more ways of spelling the same word).

These all stem from the same Proto-Indo-European root reg:
right, rich, raj, rex, regalia, reign, royal and real (from Germanic, Celtic, Sanskrit, Latin (twice), French (twice) and Portuguese)

Umm, that was a slight digression... Anyway, more than half of English words today are of Latin origin and has arrived mostly through French.

Hi Savoche

Thankyou for the chronhicle of the English language.and the French connection but I was alluding to the people not the language.
Sorry for the confusion. The internet does not do well with context of content.

They do have unmarked vehicles and CB radios.

But the loggers see them and alert each other.

You're welcome

No worries, though. I would never pass up on an opportunity to give a lecture even without the excuse of misunderstandings

Sleep tight!

I wonder, what's the fines for speeding in the Pacific Northwet?

Here it looks to be about $1300 if you go 25 mph too fast on a highway - any faster than that and you'll lose your license for a while as well.

Hmm, and $800 for tailgating or running red lights.

As well as 3 "marks" on your license. Collect 8 marks within a 3 year period and your license is taken away for 6 months.

The fine for DUI is your monthly income times 1.5 - plus jail time if your BAC is high. And you're without a driving license for up to 2.5 years.

the only times I have ever had to worry about dealing with logging trucks is when I was traveling the back roads of Wisconsin or in Ontario

not a lot of traffic

I was told those trucks' load were not secured and could shift forward crushing the cab if the vehicle slowed down rapidly

???

Sure, the trend is down but we're still ahead. And we're definietly ahead of last month. There'll be a sprint at the end if necessary, I'm sure. But we're not looking at a MkII.

Besides, it should be an ekename, not a nickname. Borrowed from Old Norse aukanafn, literally meaning additional name. In the current Norwegian languages it's aukenamn and økenavn.

Some might claim I can be a tad pedantic at times, too. Never you listen to them. They're just envious of my insane humbleness.
