Ah, yes, I can see (and hear) that. The caricature French accent from countless British films and TV shows is actually based on reality. Weird.
There's a delicious scene in the 1970 film "There's a Girl in My Soup" when Peter Sellers' character, the rotten seducer, is carrying Goldie Hawn's very drunk 19 year old character up to his French Riviera hotel room for, one presumes, a bit of hanky panky. A French hotel employee with romance in his soul, believing that they are newlyweds, gives them his best wishes with "I hope you have happiness all your life". Of course, being French, he drops all the "aitches".
