We celebrate 34 years next month, it seems like maybe 15.
Married to my first wife for 15, it seemed like 50.
Proof that time really does fly when you're happy and having fun.
Mrs. Racer 2.0 and I have been together 21 years this month.

Beats the time I spent with Mrs. Racer 1.0, 3.5 years.

And yes, the time with Mrs. Racer 2.0 seems like a blink.

Been so long since the past life with Mrs. Racer 1.0 I forget most of it. Just a dim, fading memory.

Same here.
Of course, I end up with more pictures of others going through the rutty bits than myself. And, evidence of more tree damage.
Sometimes I would get the dog to drive to get the best pictures

Compressor is shot, going for a whole new heat/cool system to be (hopefully) installed Monday.
No sense putting a new compressor into an old AC at about a third of the cost of a whole new system.
Cooler temps are here, so we will survive!

it is nice when and if that happens

but not so nice when it is forced due to circumstances beyond one's control through an emergency of some sort

Did he/she "amuse" you?
I am reminded of a passage in something I read many years ago. I think that it might be a legal joke. Could it be something from "Rumpole"?

Some time during the 1960s or 1970s, an English lawyer, he might even have been a QC, was invited to attend a trial in an African country that had recently gained its independence from Britain. He might have been an observer or, perhaps, a participant. It was a long time ago and I can't remember all the details. His host, an African lawyer, explained that they held the English system of justice in great reverence and wanted to make sure that they were keeping up the standards after independence. Sounds good. The English lawyer and his host retired to the bar for a beer and a chat. The African lawyer asked for the English lawyer's opinion.
"What did you think, old man? Are we keeping up the standards?"
"Oh yes. Absolutely. I just wondered about that topless girl with a big grin who ran around the court every now and then."
"She's the amused titter."

I remember this song. Ha! I attended an investiture at Buckingham Palace in 1961, I think. My father was getting a gong and my mother and I were guests. We were all seated in the room and the military band was in the minstrels' gallery playing soothing music. Then the Beefeaters (Yeomen Warders - Wikipedia) marched in to take up their ceremonial guard posts. And the band played High Ho, High Ho, it's off to work we go. An amused titter ran around the room.
it may not be advisable nor wise to make fun of the men carrying long pole arms

perhaps the band was out of reach even for those?

Hey you are not alone, My main unit that cools the lower portion (4ton) of my house took a dump on us about 6 weeks ago and here I am trying to survive through it in Las Vegas and the temps at the time of breakdown were 115 degrees. we managed though.
the home warranty company is crap, in fact they were the ones who replaced the compressor about ten months ago and I had to pay 1200 bux out of pocket, and the damn thing lasted only ten months, now they want another $600 from me to replace it under the part warranty. I am so sick of this old unit. An HVAC guy informed me that just changing the compressor out never works, it works of in moderate temps, but when the temps jump up, they end up giving out, which is exactly what happened to me.
I had to wait to get a loan, but finally today they will be replacing the complete unit, gonna cost $5250. but on the upside I was able to get a loan for a little more and it made it possible to purchase my DFA 150-450mm lens for $1k, so things actually worked out for the good in the long run.
now that the temps are cooler here in Vegas I really wont have much of a chance to try the new unit out in extreme temps.
On another note; I know this is originally "why I wont buy a K3" thread.......there is a sweet, low shutter count, K3,w/grip in mint condition sitting in the pawn shop just creaming out to me to buy it, however I am waiting for the price to come down a bit further and then I will pounce on it with a ridiculous offer.....
