Yeah, you're right of course.

That said... my desire for outright speed has pretty much gone these days. If I had the funds (I'm talking to you, National Lottery organisers!! ), I'd be looking for build quality and driver comfort. I'd still want something with decent power, but I'm not too concerned about 0-60 mph or quarter mile times. I'd want it to be quick, but I'd be more concerned with torque, comfortable cruising at highway speeds, and overtaking acceleration...

Of course, with that kind of money, I'd also want a fully restored (to concourse condition) '68 Chevelle SS...

... and a few other toys
If we're going to talk dream cars, then this would be top of my "want" list:

Not my photo.
1957 Lincoln Continental. The grille, alone, cost more to produce in '57 than a whole Ford Fairlane.
They sold for around $10,000 new. (When a Ford Fairlane 500 cost $2,200 and a Skyliner hardtop convertible was $2.950)

Ford lost money on every single one sold. They did not build it to make a profit.

Where is the hammer and punch that is used to break into the sinus cavity to add the ground up donor bone around the end of the implant stud so the it doesn't cut into you sinuses?
Those tools are in the "Dental CC" edition, only now available by subscription for $10 per month. For that, you get all the tools you might ever need, most of which you'll probably never use. Plus you can store any extracted teeth or bone fragments in the cloud, up to a particular storage limit. Until, of course, the provider increases their fees, reduces that limit, or goes out of business. Then, none of those dental tools will work. But you can still get the teeth and bone fragments back if you need them...

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about. Goodness me... It's utterly, utterly beautiful...

Yes.

Problem is, only around 1,500 '56 and '57 models exist and these days they can sell for around $700,000 in good condition.

I've seen a few in real life. Simply stunning.

I'd like one of those too, Bert. I've come close to buying one on so many occasions over the years, but it always seemed an impractical choice given where I was living at the time and what I needed a car for. I love driving Land Rovers... even the earlier models... but I'd especially like a nice, low mileage late model Defender 110. Not one of the tricked-out post-apocalyptic-looking models - just a nice, regular 110, and maybe some appropriate, subtle alloy wheels
I could do with an older 110 pickup, something like this:

Completely impractical, but I would totally drive a Series 1 around.

I once thought I was injured in my vehicle due to erratic behaviour... I was in the car with a girlfriend at the time. The car was stationary. I'll say no more on the subject...

You may have some difficulty visiting me!
When Mrs. Racer 2.0 was relating her 2 week long visit to the Hawaiian Islands she told me we would have to plan a trip.

I told her I would be delighted to go.

Have you made sure your telephone handset is placed firmly into your acoustic coupler?
