I had some awesome bacon this morning. Also, here's the comet from the night of the 11th after cropping the frames. Different scope.

Maybe. However them bagpipes don't impress the girls as I thought they would, they tend to run the other way...

You could try wearing trews while playing them. At least a worthwhile experiment.

Do the bagpipes double as a sextant replacement?
Well, navigation is helped.

You hear bagpipes starting, and know to turn and walk in the opposite direction.

Turkish and Greek for much the same thing; döner, γύρος. The Greek word is often transcribed as gyros for some reason. Yiros would make more sense.

Well, yes, except it can be very, very hard to pick the direction when you hear those pipes out in the open. I once walked for a couple of kilometres without hearing much difference in the volume. Turned out I was walking toward the source of the sound

The other part of the name of this food is the 'kebab' word. In Australia, at least in my experience, that refers to meat, and possibly other things, placed on a skewer, cooked, and served on the same skewer. In England it is cooked on the skewer, cut off in little bits and wrapped t make a yiros.

The transliteration to 'gyros' fits the normal letter by letter transliteration of Greek, but then would result in English speaking people pronouncing something more like 'Jai-row', and there would be confusion with the short form of gyroscope (which would not be an attractive food).

Yep, this morning I skied across our frost covered deck to fill bird feeders.

Yeah similar here; the gyros is a kebob sandwich and doner/swarma is done with meat sliced from those cone shaped meat things on a vertical cooker....but I think there is a doner kebab...so confusing

Bert might get there quicker if he has a 'goat' keel on his canoe

Dave
He may need to bring the goats along for food and, ah, "company", along the way.

That's because they have not had the opportunity to admire your chanter.
