And it affects us all when those consumed by it behave badly.
I hope these events can help the good people of the world to come closer together, have a better understanding of our differences and be more accepting and tolerant of those differences.

I saw that the death toll is up to 49, so very sad and senseless.

Bad news.
Thank you everyone for your messages.
It seems we were dealing with a "lone gunman" although it seems he did have some associates. He appeared in court this morning and will appear again 5th April.
It would seem he shot indiscriminately, men, women and children and went back to execute people wounded. He was not on any security watchlists. It would appear he is an Australian and a white supremacist. It would seem he acquired the firearms used in the attack legally, but some (illegal) modifications appear to have been made to these firearms which allowed their use in automatic or semi-automatic fashion.
We are naturally shocked and did not think anything like this would ever happen here.
Our hearts go out to everyone in Christchurch and the Muslim community throughout New Zealand.
