Really?

First it kept me from getting home.

So I drove around the back way.

The first tree was tricky to get around.

Of course the next one wasn't any better looking. It was swinging side to side and I had to time the pass just right.

Yeah, we didn't barbecue that night.

We did cook dinner on the gas (propane, remember, we live in the sticks) cooktop, by the light of antique kerosene lamps.

It had the feel of what I imagine young @Bert lives like.

By the way, where has that young @Bert been, anyway?

Stuck in a snowbank?

Once the decision to have a BBQ has been made, nothing will prevent if from happening. If the weather changes - tough!
I beg to differ.

If Old Man Winter suddenly dumps a massive amount of snow on you in the middle of your soirée, at the very least you will need to drop back and regroup.

I once helped my dad BBQ during a hailstorm. His words: "I don't need to go inside for ice for my whiskey."

But in case you blokes are interested in the properties of light... oh I forgot, you're all photographers; you wouldn't be interested.

Anyhow, I was listening to an interview with the grandson of Hans Heysen recently, and he was recounting a conversation with his aged grandfather when Hans pointed out it was going to rain soon. Sky was as blue as it gets in the land of Oz; not a breath of wind - no indication of rain to anyone but Hans. But rain it did!!!!

Hans had spent his whole life painting landscapes and understood light - apparently the added moisture in the air drifting in darkened the colour of the air enough for him to notice; was obvious to him, but not so much to anyone else.

see Hans Heysen - Wikipedia
interesting. ... and 50 years congrats.

I rarely have whiskey or whisky with ice, or anything else.

Except maybe a Cohiba.

Well in about fifteen minutes Mrs. Racer 2.0 and I will head into the city, to the Sisters of Providence hospital, so the foot doctor can take another shot at gluing the second metatarsal back together. He calls it a revision. In airplane manufacturing we call it rework.

So another incision, rework the bone splice, take a bit of heel bone to graft the metatarsal, sew it shut again and send me home with a splint.

After a week or two I get another cast, for another six weeks.

Yay.

I must admit the drugs they give intravenously and the general anesthetic are fun. But not something I like to revisit frequently.

See y’all on the other side, eh?
