Well in about fifteen minutes Mrs. Racer 2.0 and I will head into the city, to the Sisters of Providence hospital, so the foot doctor can take another shot at gluing the second metatarsal back together. He calls it a revision. In airplane manufacturing we call it rework.

So another incision, rework the bone splice, take a bit of heel bone to graft the metatarsal, sew it shut again and send me home with a splint.

After a week or two I get another cast, for another six weeks.

Yay.

I must admit the drugs they give intravenously and the general anesthetic are fun. But not something I like to revisit frequently.

What, you don't carry a hand saw in the back of your car!!

A hand saw to cut through a 14” tree?

While it is hanging from electric distribution wires that may or may not be energized?

If I learned nothing else while working at the electric utility for 30 years, I learned that if it’s not grounded, it’s not dead.

Never touch a tree laying on electric wires.

Oh, yeah.

Just got home from hospital.

Things must have gone well, as the doctor had already headed back to his office for his routine day of seeing other victims, er, I mean patients.

My foot is wrapped in the splint/bandages and the anesthesia still has me dopey.

And I am very hungry.

Fixed a nice cuppa joe, just how I like it.

Mrs. Racer 2.0 is making me a BLT.

Finished the awesome bacon sammich with some lettuce and tomato, and coffee (my way of course).

Now I am chillin’ waiting for the pain pills to get to work and watching Law And Order (an early episode with detectives Lenny Briscoe and Mike Logan.
