I'm considering moving to someplace where it doesn't rain as often; like the Olympic Peninsula, or Florida.
Morning Parralax

How much rainfall do you like...if it's not much and gets to 45C I know just the place.

'One of them asked "well boy what did you do?"
And I said "Littering" and they all move away from there on the Group W bench.
Until I said, 'And creating a public nuisance" and then every one came back and we was laughing and carrying on talking about mother raping and father stabbing and father raping and having grand old time."

Repeated from memory and I haven't heard the song in 40 years.

How strange... I've known of Arlo Guthrie for some time, and listened to more than a few of his songs, but never heard Alice's Restaurant until just now... and in the context of the rest of the song, and the way it's presented, the lyrics make absolute sense. Funny song... and quite clever, too. It helps that I'm a big fan of fingerpickin' guitar, too

That would be just fine. On occasion we've had higher temps than that here with higher humidity than where I suspect you're suggesting..
A few years back, one day in February, Pierre was the coldest city (BTW, "City", with regard to Pierre, is stretching the definition) in the nation. Later that year, in August, there was a day when we were the hottest city in the country.
Did you have someplace in mind more extreme than that.

You've never??? Bloody hell! Talk of a deprived childhood.

I have the original LP. (And quite a few other Arlo Guthrie LP's)

I think I'll insist that they play it at my funeral. Along with Comfortably Numb.

LOL

I'm not planning a funeral, but if folks go against my wishes for their own benefit, I'd like this played... it's a good anthem for my years 17 - 46, and that's enough to define me, I think

Yeah. Why not!

Here's my other favourite Arlo tune. Actually, Arlo's a cover - It's originally a Steve Goodman song.

Mike, I love you man, but that hurt my one good ear.
Never thought I'd say this, I might need some of Bert's bagpipe videos to soothe the pain.

You should. It is a classic.

Arlo Guthrie, son of Woody Guthrie wrote and performs it. I listen to it several times each year around Thanksgiving.

You should also listen to the Motorcycle song.

Hi Parallax

Extreme....mmmmm...

High humidity with pretty constant temp and lots of rain....gods country far north Queensland ( where Arjay resides )
or....High temps with low overnight temps and rain whats that then Alice Springs
or..Cold wet and miserable ( a bit English ) Hobart in Tassie
or A bit of everything then Clare near me ( I'm in the western suburb )

Arlo live....

I saw Steve Goodman perform City of New Orleans once. He was a funny guy.

Later I saw John Prine do the song.
John Prine said in his introduction, "When I first heard this song I imagined a tall skinny guy with a beard who sang the best train song I'd ever heard. Steve is a short fat little guy who sings the best train song I've ever heard. The Lord works in mysterious ways."
But City of New Orleans wasn't my favourite Steve Goodman song, this was.
