Once we reach the top, we turn around and go back down then.

My gastroenterologist has been pestering me lately. Seems it is time for another "Exploration Southwest", you know, the whole Dave Barry thing again.

Drink the stuff.

Imitate the Saturn V rocket on the launch pad.

Sleep an hour.

Go to the hospital.

Get hooked up to an IV, the nice anesthesiologist squirts something into it and tells me to count backwards from 1,000.

I wake up after what seems like a minute, but it has been an hour, and the doctor gives me photographs of the inside of a passage that only doctors want to look at.

Mrs. Racer 2.0 takes me home, and on the way we stop and have a bacon cheeseburger and a beer.

Yay.
A fun day out. Although, I don't know why they put you to sleep. Here, it's done awake and you have the added bonus of being able to watch the Roto-Rooter camera, which is a Pentax, I'll let you know, on the screen finding it's way around. Fascinating stuff!

Do you want me to post the photos?

I've never understood this caffeine thing. I can have as many espressos as I want, any time of the day or night, and it makes not one iota difference to my sleep. (Unless I forget to water the lemon tree before I go to bed)
Well we do have to look after the lemon trees now don't we

Never heard that one before. Dad always referred to big shoes and feet as gunboats. Probably a Navy thing.

I worked most of the 30 years at the electric utility on second shift. I learned early on that if I wanted coffee to work I wan't to abuse it. One cup a day, to wake up.

That's it.

My doctor says it is better if I don't have any at all, but as long as my blood pressure stays where it should, I can continue to have a cup a day, no more.

Probably packing.
So am I.

Reminds me, I need to figure out where to put the gun safe in the new flat. It has to be bolted securely to a wall or a floor.

My gun safe has provisions for attachment to the floor, but I never bothered.

When it was delivered, by a couple of very big men, one of them told me, “Now if you see some guy carrying your safe off, let him go.”

This is because any man that can carry something that big and heavy isn’t a guy you want to mess with. I have moved it twice since then, and I doubt there is a man alive who could carry it away.

We had a safe like that in Cape Town. It used to be my dad's, but he wanted something smaller and it was too heavy for their apartment floor. No man could lift it. It weighed close to a ton. Whenever you wanted to shift it, you rang Chubb and they sent a bunch of guys and all kinds of specialist gear to get it up off the slab and moved. We sold it with our house in Cape Town. I guess it's probably still there!

Mine only weighs around 600lbs empty. Part of that is the steel it is fabricated from, and part is the gypsum sheet (the same stuff used to finish interior walls with) it is lined with to achieve the fire rating.
