Quite right, Dave. Hence the name "the Netherlands" - with an s. The name is in plural in German, Spanish, and French, too. And in Portuguese. And probably some others.
The full Dutch name is "het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden" - the kingdom of the Netherlands - but I believe that's for a different reason. The European part of the kingdom is called "Nederland", singular, while the other
Nederlande are overseas territories. I think
