Actually, what I find much more fascinating than koala farts is wombat poop. It's cubic, and Wikipedia has interesting things to report on it:

'They are not commonly seen, but leave ample evidence of their passage, treating fences as minor inconveniences to be gone through or under, and leaving distinctive cubic feces.[5] As wombats arrange these feces to mark territories and attract mates, it is believed that the cubic shape makes them more stackable and less likely to roll, which gives this shape a biological advantage. The method by which the wombat produces them is not well understood, but it is believed that the wombat intestine stretches preferentially at the walls. The adult wombat produces between 80 and 100, two-centimetre (0.8 in) pieces of feces in a single night, and four to eight pieces each bowel movement.'

Stackable poop - what exciting times we live in! Equally interesting is its chosen method of defence:

'Their primary defence is their toughened rear hide, with most of the posterior made of cartilage. This, combined with its lack of a meaningful tail, makes it difficult for any predator that follows the wombat into its tunnel to bite and injure its target. When attacked, wombats dive into a nearby tunnel, using their rumps to block a pursuing attacker.[17] A wombat may allow an intruder to force its head over the wombat's back, and then use its powerful legs to crush the skull of the predator against the roof of the tunnel, or drive it off with two-legged kicks, like those of a donkey.'

Yeah, they've got rounded edges, they look like brown or green squarish soap bars. They're left out to deter rivals.

Wombats have a reputation for being dumb, but one author reckons they may be the smartest of all marsupials, just that as burrowers they're tremendously short-sighted.

Watching one interact with the environment above ground can be like watching Mr Magoo go about his business.

Not that any of youse guys give a rat's patootie, but the Cardinals just completed a 4 game sweep of the Cubs, putting them in the playoffs and possibly another NL Central pennant.
The 4 games were played in Chicago, today's during an all day rain.

Not always, it depends on the severity. Today it was fairly heavy at times, but mostly not.
Safety of the players is a big a factor, i.e. running, sliding, etc.
A Cubs player did leave the game after twisting his ankle on a slick first base.

Ah, now that would be most people living outside the few areas suffiiciently urban to have hipster communities

Not really, though. I think our society is a tad too small and close knit to have that kind of (social) remoteness to any large degree. The reason I'm ribbing the population on the west side of the fjord is really that we are all the same - there's always been close contact between the two sides, but perhaps more in earlier times when sea faring was the main mode of transport. Now that road travel is the norm the fjord has become an obstacle rather than the means of contact.

Fjord has the same ancestry as firth and ford (see that, Mark?) - to cross - and also to fare.
