Interesting, why would one need a chain breaker for a bicycle chain? Usually the sprockets wear out first and that is the time for a new chain replacement also.
Very occasionally, the chain can break, or the chain can get wedged between the frame and the chain rings. Sometimes, that will mangle a link making riding impossible. In cases like that, the chain can be mended on the roadside and you can continue riding and not be stranded an needing a ride in the middle of nowhere. In all the years I've ridden road bikes, that has happened to me twice. But that's twice too many.

We should ask if they have a mascot, and if not, suggest Otis.

11 speed chain? Shimano Ultegra. Good, but pretty skinny. Usually, they stretch before they fail.

There's your answer. 7-speed and 8-speed chains last. 11-speed and 12-speed chains - not so good.

Aussies know diddly squat about lawn mowing, they have sheep you know.

Yes. And you could too. And when they have eaten enough grass you dismantle them, put them in the weber and eat the product. Good.

So only Rupert was welcome, and by implication the rest of us must take the by-pass route?
