That said, if I don't get enough posts to qualify for a contest or two it's not for lack if photos

and then there was the weight of the water

glad I had good floor support
Guess you missed this:

QuoteOriginally posted by Racer X 69 Quote
The amount of weight that a waterbed brings to bear on the floor of one's bedroom has always been a point of contention. Granted, water is somewhat heavy. Still, calculating the forces brought to bear upon the floor by a waterbed is really a simple and easy thing to do.

We already know the bed is 60" x 84", or 5' x 7', which is 35 square feet. The weight of the bed, water, frame and bedding comes in at about 1,650 lbs.

So, we divide the weight by the area to get the pressure brought to bear upon the floor of the room.

1650 / 35 = 47.14 lbs per square foot.

Any floor in a properly built home should support the weight of a waterbed.

Of course if said home is a rambler, built on a concrete slab, the weight of a waterbed wouldn't even be a concern.
As Racer mentioned, we had ours set up in a single wide trailer house. No problems. Didn't even make it lean to one side.

Then there is this:

QuoteOriginally posted by Racer X 69 Quote
And the weight of the bed isn't a problem at less that 50 lbs per square foot.

Think about this.

A 200 lb man standing on his two feet exerts more force on the floor beneath his feet than the waterbed exerts on the floor beneath the supporting frame.

Feet, about 3.5" x 12" = 42 square inches.

That is 0.292 square feet, multiplied by two is 0.584 square feet.

So 200 lbs / 0.584 = 342.47 lbs per square foot.
So a grown man places more load on the floor than a waterbed. I have confidence in Racer. He used to work as an engineer so he knows about things like this.

well considering that I posted my comment before Racer posted his explanation
I don't see how you can say that I missed his post

it does indicate that I was wrong though

" childish "

you seemed to have missed the winking emoji

everyone has their own opinion as to what is " childish "

for me my sleep number mattress is good enough for me

Bah. Delayed from Oslo, missed the connecting flight. Now rerouted through Cape Town. Yay for an extra hop and five more hours travel time.

But better than staying the night in London as they first wanted is to do, the bastards.

Now, run to catch the damned flight...

The buggers sent us off to the wrong terminal, then when we got to the right one and to the right gate they told us that we "had been taken off because we probably wouldn't make it". The tried sending us to another connection desk. I rarely use strong language but this time there might have slipped in a few less-than-polite phrases. They did look a bit taken aback but started making calls. Long story short, they did find seats for us after all.

Still fuming, I am.

Be thankful that did not happen at JFK... Long story... my lady-friend landed at Reagan National day late, after spending a night at Raleigh-Durham International!

Cant do that here (use strong language), our TSA will taze you and have you jailed for disturbing/endangering traveler peace/safety...
Not sure which is worse, MVA or TSA
