Doesn't make Charles' involvement with Camilla right, but neither should he be viewed as polar opposite to Di's supposed saintliness... That aside, his life expectancy is rather good if you only consider his maternal and paternal stock, and the quality of personalised medical management and healthcare he receives. When he accedes to the throne, I expect he'll reign for 20 years or so, give or take. A short time compared to his mother, but significant nonetheless, and sufficient time - one might hope - for William to prepare...

Why would you, unless you were both a subject and royalist?

Sure... but, delighted though we are by the tourism revenues and sales of souvenirs, you can imagine why many of us over here "give a damn" about our monarch and the Royal Family, I'm sure

You know what they say: Some women marry men hoping they'd change. Some men marry women hoping they won't change.
When a man falls in love with a woman he looks at her and says "Perfect". When a woman meets a man and falls in love with him she says "Now there is a man a can do a life long improvement project with." My wife is not happy when I say this, but she does like bacon so we have been married 43 years. Not sure how much I have been improved.

How much is the British royal family worth? - Business Insider
Of course. One doesn't represent the entire United Kingdom, Commonwealth and crown dependencies on minimum wage...

That aside, the term "family" - whilst accurate in terms of genealogy - doesn't really describe the function. It's widely known that members of the Royal Family have oft referred to it internally as "The Firm" - i.e. it's an organisation serving many purposes, and I think that's a considerably more representative description. It's not a bunch of folks sitting about on silk-upholstered sofas playing "Happy Families", but an organisation that represents a multitude of peoples on both national and wider international stages.

some might be using SWMBO as a joke

at least I hope so

either SWMBO or HWMBO, if used literally, to describe a relationship does seem too one sided for my taste

I tried to like that post Bob, but it won't let me unless I join the Weber forum. As much as I would like to, I'm already over my limit for innerweb forums. Most I don't even go to anymore since I don't really have the time to be futzing about on the innerwebs.

So just let me like it here:

OK.

Go that out of the way.

Now.

What was that little puppy all about?

All you ever tell us about here is Brooke.

You never mentioned a puppy.

Are you holding out on us Bob?

Having sworn allegiance to the Queen I have little choice in the matter, short of treason.

did you take her shilling ?

or another form of allegiance ?

I sworn to support the US Constitution:

One of two options. I chose the 2nd:

“I (your name here) swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of New Zealand, her heirs and successors according to law, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of New Zealand and fulfil my duties as a New Zealand citizen. So help me God”.
