Alexa is the smartest woman I've ever heard.
I never thought I'd go for a dot echo, but for $20 on Woot, and another $5 off as an Amazon Prime member, I couldn't resist.
It's the latest model, gen 3, listed as used acceptable condition, came repackaged and obvious it had never been used.
I have google assist on my cell and use it fairly often, but with Alexa sitting beside me on the end table it's so easy to have her play my music, tell me the temp, or just about any other question I throw at her. The music sounds pretty darn good too.
Even Mrs Bob seems to like her.

Oh, we had a wonderful time. Apart from the bloody useless airlines, some drunk Russians, and an angry buffalo it was really a series of higlights. But I guess good travel company will make any journey a good one.

And we finally got to see wild dogs

I don't like talking to my phone - so I don't. And I wouldn't like having a shopping mad mic in my house

Now get off my lawn!

My iPod has Siri.

She didn't always understand me, and frequently got things wrong.

I finally turned her off when I asked her for, oh, wait, I better not tell that story.

Anyway, she couldn't deliver, and now she is gone.

Must be your Canuckian accent, my Alexa has a Canuckian accent option, she can even pronounce the letter o.

I don't know what the dame (am I allowed to write that?) in my Toyota is called but she has no idea who I want to call on my phone.
I same something like 'call home' (Home is listed in my mobile (cell) phone) and she comes back and says something like 'do you want to call Richard Kaa?'
Now I ask you. She has no idea of elocution, pronunciation, or anything else.
Maybe once in six tries she might get me the number I ask for.
I've never tried Alexa, and the only time I tried Siri was an experiment which proved that my son's voice and mine must have some similarity as I could ask Siri questions on his phone and be understood and answered, and my grandson couldn't.

Bonjour les mecs ...

Oops, I did it again.

That is to say to make it into the newspaper. Monday, we installed the winners of the bi-annual photo festival in the lobby of the theater. Here's the article and I am on the far right with a bad hair day in action.

And yes, that is how the group photo was cropped. Jean, Christophe, Daniel and Jean-Marie are headless ...

"Dame" is a quite exalted title here, gets women a job in that big building on the banks of the Thames in London, for life.

Somehow, when not used of a woman who has been awarded it as a title it seems to be considered derogatory. English language at its best!
