Taupo Cycle Race this Saturday. 100 miles / 160km.

Bike's cleaned, serviced, new tyres and tubes.
I'm not feeling nearly prepared for it as I'm not sure I've trained enough. Time will tell. It hurts from the 100km mark to the end anyway, it's just a question of how much hurt.

Lovely story Mike.

I take three things from this:
  • Do not talk to strange old men when you go fishing on a Sunday morning.
  • Avoid witches.
  • Fillet what you catch.
Good observations. I'll add one more:

  • The business of dairy farming is fraught with risks...

Did you runaway with the goat..........?
Did someone push you in the river whilst playing the pipes..........?
Are you just back from Scotland.............?

But yes you were missed by the masses

Just been out and about, not much interest in photography, and busy life.

Good luck, pain is just weakness leaching from the body

Either that or a good set of patented "anal saddle extractors"

Just wait 'til you're older. You'll eat those words, lad. Eat, I tells ya...

Another good saying: what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

I experienced it quite literally this summer, so will elaborate later.
Long story short; I effed up in a canoe and learned a lot of lessons that day.

My neighbor has one of those bikes with an electric assist motor. Might be something to try. You will arrive at the finish line much more refreshed.

I'm struggling to reconcile that with the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, but... OK... I'll see how this plays out...

In other news, Bert's return just nudged me into qualifying for a second entry in the raffle. So, you know... even with the bagpipes... it's all good
