Read through these posts and it should be clear how I got confused. I may not be good at math, and sometimes my comprehension may leave a bit to be desired, but I think it is clear that Dave lead me astray but his post, the first quoted here.

I think it is because he works the graveyard shift, and is sleep deprived. I worked the graveyard shift once, and I know that getting adequate sleep is near impossible, and once one gains a sizable sleep deficit, well, all I can say is there aren't any drugs or alcohol that will produce the state of euphoria that lack of sleep does.




Yes, Mark, even with my poor math skills, I know that much.



Mark's math was flawless.

Wow... things move fast in this thread. I've not read nor posted much in the forums today and there's 3+ pages of posts to read in here alone I have some catching up to do...

In the mean-time... A very slightly sad day for me - but only slightly...

For over a year now, Monty - one of our neighbours' cats - has spent most of his waking hours in our garden, relaxing in the flower-beds, chasing birds and leaves, and "managing the population" of our mice. He's also got to know Boo Boo, my own rescue cat who frequently goes in the garden attended, wearing a harness and long leash. Initially, Boo Boo didn't like him, but they gradually became friends of a sort. Then, a few months ago, Monty's brother - Jones - finally overcame his shyness and began visiting us daily, usually to eat Boo's left-overs from breakfast, lunch or dinner, and to enjoy a stroke and an occasional cuddle. Again, with some reluctance on Boo's behalf, they had become friends of a sort.

Well, yesterday there was a big van going to and from our neighbours' home... and now, the curtains are all shut, there's no car in the drive-way, no lights on in the house tonight, and no sign of Monty or Jones since yesterday afternoon. I'm not 100% certain, since we never knew those particular neighbours well enough to chat other than at the annual summer fair, but I feel sure they've moved away. And whenever Boo went out today, he sat by the garden gate for a few minutes, looking through it to see if his friends were nearby. In all honesty, my folks and I have been doing the same thing.

If our neighbours have indeed moved, we all of us shall miss both Monty and Jones. Lovely cats, both of them. Really lovely

Taupo Cycle Race this Saturday. 100 miles / 160km.

Bike's cleaned, serviced, new tyres and tubes.
I'm not feeling nearly prepared for it as I'm not sure I've trained enough. Time will tell. It hurts from the 100km mark to the end anyway, it's just a question of how much hurt.

Slow Dave, slow. Or rather, very quick for the first 80km, a little slower for the next 40km, and very slow for the last 40. Got my electrolytes mix wrong and ended up with bad cramps in the rectus femoris and vastus medialis muscles.
