Pretty darn good eats, but needed more bacon. Waiting to see if there will be a gaseous reaction.
Oh, those look awesome, Bob!

Brussels sprouts are very traditional here around Christmas. They're one of my favourite vegetables. If you get a chance, you might try adding some freshly roasted (or, at a pinch, tinned) chestnuts to them, crumbled up. The tastes are very complementary, and even more so with bacon (you already have that part covered, I see ). Makes a great soup, too... especially with whatever left-over bits of meat there are after Christmas lunch, afternoon sandwiches and in-between-meals snacks.

Regarding bitterness... I've previously read, and heard, that only certain folks can taste the bitterness, whilst others can't (it's a genetic thing) - and this, allegedly, is the main reason why some people really like sprouts and others can't abide them. Me personally, I've never eaten a sprout that tasted bitter... I've had some that were undercooked and too nutty / firm, and others that were over-cooked to a mush. Neither were appetising in the slightest, but edible enough that I didn't have to appear ungrateful to my hosts

Much the same as here, then, except out limit is 0.02% regardless of age and occupation.

I just found the list of consequences if you test positive:
- 0.02-0.05%: A fine of 1.5 x monthly income and possibly loss of driving license for a period
- 0.05-0.12%: A fine of 1.5 x monthly income, a suspended sentence (possibly jail time), and loss of driving license for minimum a year
- above 0.12%: A fine of 1.5 x monthly income, minimum 21 days (up to one year) in jail, and loss of driving license for minimum two years, possibly for life
That is a cunning fine system. That way it hurts everyone equally!

Goat cheese is decent, especially homemade stuff with fresh milk
We have a local goat farm that have their own goat cheese factory. The cheese is very good. It's as close as you can get to homemade without making it yourself.

Having had wayyyyy to many of the little buggers in the army I have concluded that the only thing they're good for is playing miniature catapult off the end of a spoon. They do fly beautifully. And make for good entertainment for the kids.
(Do not try this at home if you're a responsible adult and don't wish to imprint your young childrens minds with the look of death their mother reserves for their father when he does something dumb.)

If I got fined an 8th of my yearly income, well, it would hurt

Reminds of this (undoubtedly completely true, right?) story that appeared in an episode of QI:
The head of the Guinness family in the 1980s was injured in a traffic accident in Dublin and taken to hospital. Under the Irish system, people earning more than £11,000 a year had to pay for their treatment, so when he arrived they asked him, "Do you earn £11,000?" To which he replied, "Some days I do, some days I don't."

I do hope there's going to be an Oor Wullie 2020. I could do with my fix of Wullie, Soapy Soutar, Fat Boab and Wee Eck

Thank goodness for that. One should never drink milk direct from the goat. Of course, it's perfectly OK to play a tune on one, though...
Is it necessary to have a carrot stuck in your head?

Having never played the goat before, I can't advise on correct protocol. But it wouldn't harm to look smart for the occasion...

Yes, we have some nice ones here, too. Including the brown one - which is not strictly cheese, but it's made from goat's milk. It's frequently mentioned when people are asked to define "Norwegian"

They mention that in the article linked, say it's in our DNA.
Sprouts to me were always bitter, cilantro tastes like soap, and don't get me started on rosemary. Why in the world would anyone eat something that tastes like pine needles must taste???
A hint of rosemary sets off a gag reflex in me and the Mrs.
