Mine gets plenty of exercise - it's running around looking for what I was trying to remember.

Yes, one summer after another is fine, but two at the same time is a bit much.
OTOH, don't believe all you read about record temps, early fire season, etc. This country has always had 'extreme' temperatures and big fires and early fire seasons (in the north fire seasons start in later winter and spring, as you come south it gets later - mid to late summer in Victoria and Tasmania, and there are always things happening out of season as well).

Diesel?

But you said petrol.

I’m confused.

I would never put petrol in the tank of a Diesel engined car.
Got me. I am careful about which fluid I put in the tank.

Actually, there are studies that show any saturated fat rendered from animals or birds should be healthier for frying than the sunflower oil I was using. Apparently, sunflower and corn oil produce high levels of toxic aldehydes at cooking temperatures, and that's unhealthy. Animal fats, on the other hand, are richer in monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids and are more stable at high temperatures.

So... for frying, your advice is probably right on the money
We found the kitchen easier to clean when using olive oil than sunflower.

Good to hear Bob. (Regarding the cold.) As for the snow - I'm hoping for somewhat warmer weather around my Weber for Christmas. At this stage, it's not looking good. Temperatures have dropped to 9degC and it's bucketing down outside.
Better than the 45 C where I came from.

I can't remember my cell number, why should I, it's right there in my phone.
The older you get, the more those little memory modules fill up, mine are overflowing.
Why do I need to remember my phone number, I never need to call it?

bacon, bagpipes, beer, breakfast, canada, catch 22, cheese, drink, dslr, ford, general talk, gin, guns, igunaq, k-3, k-mount, k3, kids, lutefisk, lycra, marital relations, pentax k-3, possums, sandwich, scotch, shirley, snoring, spam, squirrels, toilet, tokyo

Oh, and by the way, the quiz starts in 20 minutes. You must achieve a minimum of 90% to pass.
That might be the first post to have all the keywords in.

Hump day.

Last scheduled production day of the year at The Big Shed.

We finish up the last wing spar today, providing the parts were delivered last night.

Then we clean the shop, go through our tools and get ready for the coming year.

I guess the other line will be retooling to roll out 737Classic from beginning of January after they could not get the software right on the other 737.

When I first started at The Big Shed the password to get onto the company computer had to be 8 characters long, contain at least one upper case letter, and at least one number. It has to be changed every 90 days.

So I developed a strategy where I only have to change one number each time.

Worked pretty good.

Until last year when they changed the length requirement to 16 characters.

So I figured out another clever strategy, and am now working my way through changing that one number every 90 days again.
Yes, 8 characters is far from enough. With a good 16 char passphrase there is no reason to change it, though, and changing it every 90 days is not advisable at all. Frequent changing only means more people will pick as simple a password as they can get away with. Better then to make a good password and keep it.

I mean, a good 16 character passphrase takes a long time to brute force. If you can test 1 trillion phrases a second it will still take you some 1.5 billion years to get through half of the possibilities. If that's not good enough you need multi factor authentication - which is a good idea anyway.

That looks fantastic, Mark - well worth the time and effort. Very tasteful and stylish too, if I may say...

I love the colour scheme, and your vintage fridge complements it well
