Three Dog night performing at the Kodak Theater in Rochester, NY on April 26, 2020.

The Kodak Theater was originally built as part of the Kodak Recreation Center for Kodak employees. It contained the theater, bowling alleys, a pistol range. fully equipped darkrooms, an employee store and rooms for employee clubs etc. The theater is one of the best in the region.

That's impressive, none the less. I had no idea South African traditional songs were sung outside of South Africa!
Few South Africans do. In our case the choir was initiated by exiled Saffers together with activists here as part of the Struggle - hence the resistance songs, many of which would be very inappropriate to sing these days! There is at least one similar group in Sweden and one i Denmark (we have met them both), and one (probably more) in Germany. I think they all still exist in some form; these songs are very hard to let go.

Sweden and Norway were very involved politically and economically in South African matters in the 80ies.

They're just random people I have met. Well known people, yes, but that's hardly my doing

I love watching vultures soar and never flap a wing. I read recently that they use no more energy flying than standing on the ground.
Birds fascinate me more than airplanes.

Psst, Bob, that's not a vulture.

If gliders get help to get aloft they can stay aloft for an awful long time - given the right conditions.

What is the longest a glider has flown for, when and how

Despite the impeccable academic credentials and best sources, what is missed is that the “laws” of science are only the best descriptions at present of what does and might be expected to happen in given circumstances. Einstein’s Relativity didn’t make Newton’s Law of Gravity null and void (things do still fall), it just described gravitational behaviour more accurately. What neither did was explain why this should be so, just as the competing theories of lift don’t explain why lift should occur. Lift does occur in the circumstances described, but not because Bernoulli or anyone else said so.

Exactly so! For everyday use Newton's Law of Gravity is a good enough approximation. For space exploration we need more accurate models, like Einstein's Relativity. For quantum mechanics we need different models altogether.

Still, gravity wins.
