I had the chance to see the Proclaimers last year but tickets for our local Palace of Culture fleapit were rather expensive. I’m sure it was a great show but not at £50 a pop.

I presume you didn't walk 500 miles to go see them then...?

I tried to find the lowest and highest priced tickets for the Stones concert here in July.
They play at the Dome, the football Rams old enclosed stadium.
I saw prices as low as $98, and as high as $8,000 if near the stage.

The seats for $98 bucks will be in the nosebleed section. So far from the stage the Hubble telescope will be required to see the band.

The $8,000 seats should be made of gold and have a waiter bringing you some good scotch.

I haven't read any papers for a few days, so I didn't get the sad news of Joseph Shabalala's passing until today.

Joseph Shabalala, Ladysmith Black Mambazo founder, dies aged 78 | Music | The Guardian

The one that made them internationally known.

It might be far enough away to avoid extreme ear damage.

I still remember when and where I first heard that electrifying song. Very sad to hear.

I believe that it is in some alien repair shop at the moment. They are fixing it up so that it can continue it's mission.
But V'ger will be coming back... Someday.

I only just saw the news too. He made quite the contribution to African music.

Some people just can't get no satisfaction. But they still try.

I just saw a statistic for the 2010 Super Bowl.

Total time in play, 12 minutes 38 seconds, for a total of 147 plays, and an average of 5 seconds per play.

What a rip off.

Man, when the green flag drops at the 2020 Daytona 500 this coming Sunday, 43 drivers will have at it, hammer and tong, for 4 or 5 hours, at 200 miles an hour.

Sure, there will be caution periods. Still, the drivers don't get to take off their helmet, and go sit on a bench and gulp Gatorade. No, they will remain strapped into a hot racecar, focused, and ready to make the next move. With their helmet on.

And several layers of Nomex fire retardant suit and undersuit.

And pit stops.

Of course, again, the driver remains strapped in, and the car heat soaks for the 10 to 13 seconds it takes his crew to change 4 tires and dump 22 gallons of fuel into the fuel cell.

If he wishes a crew member will thrust a drink bottle through the window net on the end of a stick, or offer a Ziploc bag of ice to cool him down.

Then it is back out on track, joining the other drivers, in their snarling beasts, all trying to be the first one to the checkered flag after 500 miles of driving 3 times the national speed limit.

So tell me, who is the real athlete here? Some overgrown brute of a man chasing a weird looking ball for a few seconds, or a man (or woman) wrestling a 3,600 pound stock car with 850 horsepower at 200 miles an hour bumper to bumper and door handle to door handle with 42 other drivers?

And this is Speedweeks, so these guys have been down in Florida getting after it since last week.

Tonight, the twin qualifying races.

If it ever stops raining.

I won’t buy a K-3 because I just spent my cash stash on a Macro rig for the K-50... Tamron 90mm plus focus rail for it. nice chunk of glass!
