(Laughs) It's a Haves versus Have Nots thing, right?

We may not have as much social inequality as a lot of other countries, but it's there, alright.

You'd know, you spent extended time here, IIRC!

Yeah, way too fast for my liking, and I won't be doing that again.

I was on a freshly groomed slope well off to the side of the mountains which sees very little traffic. It's quite steep, then levels off into the flats. At the top I just said 'what the heck' and pointed my skis straight down. As I picked up speed they were starting to chatter a bit and then more and more. I didn't dare turn or try to slow down at that speed. And (obviously) free heels too. Falling would not have been good... Anyway, I looked at my GPS watch afterwards and it had hit a top speed of 117 km/h... and it certainly felt like it... I'll stick to the 80kmh or so range for my high speed downhilling...
Sounds exhilarating! Of course, if you did fall of you would have only done it once, so there is that.

Kudos mate. My hat off to you. You're a braver man on skis than me.

Happening here too. People are hitting the home improvement stores like crazy. Why not make good use of the time?
My project list is: Continue with outdoor pizza oven construction, build my son a weight lifting bench and build my daughter a hall table.

Is it a socioeconomic thing? I know many of the Northern suburbs are pretty affluent, but the couple of times I was in Sydney I didn't pay much attention to whether there was an apparent difference in people visiting Bondi and Manly.

Now that I am an old fart I like to watch all the aerial skiing, half pipe etc. I remember when I was doing all that twisting a flipping and rotating etc. In fact I may have invented some of those moves 50 years ago. Of course the big difference today is that these skiers do it on purpose. I was just trying to get down the slopes.

All I remember of my greatest wipeout is three massive body slams and a lot of sliding down the mountain. Amazingly no serious injuries. They say that God protects little children, drunks and fools. Well I was not a kid and I wasn't drunk.

Every morning I wake up with a song stuck in my head. I think it's because I have tinnitus in both ears, yes, even my deaf ear, it helps me keep my mind off the ringing.
Sometimes it's a song I haven't heard in years. The other morning it was Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.
I was very pleased with this morning's selection, Don't Worry Be Happy.
May all of you try not to worry, and be happy.

How about the embarrassment of having to climb back up the piste to recover your skis which stopped at the top when you fell?

In those days the skis were attached to your ankles with a cord so they stayed with you. Those edges can leave some pretty good scrapes and cuts.

Really. I never saw that except for off piste skiing where there was a fair chance of losing your skis. This would have been 80s and 90s.

The Agony of Defeat at the beginning of Wide World of Sports convinced me that snow skiing isn't something I want to try..

You have very carefully prevented the rest of us from saying: “you said it “.

Suicide straps as they're affectionately called. Still common on and off piste for tele skiers. Mandatory on many hills if you don't have brakes.

If had a good fall with them helicoptering and hitting my head. Luckily it wasn't backcountry, so I was wearing a helmet.
