I thought this thread also was strictly "no politics"
I couldn't figure out how his picture of the wagon could be considered political; and then it hit me.
It's abstract.
It's filled with a single day's output from an average politician.

Well here we are, Memorial Day weekend. That weekend in the US where we have racing (although the Indy 500 has been postponed to August 23), plenty of outdoor activities, and barbecue (Bob can get into this in a huge way!).

Yep.

For many, a paid day off from work and a long weekend.

Oh, and let's not forget, the real reason for the holiday..

Remembering all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

So take a moment from your picnics, barbecues, racing and family gatherings, and remember those who gave all so we could enjoy this weekend.

I have no grandchildren. My child is old enough to generate one.

This is awesome. Spectacular driving at a world class course, Spa Francorchamps in Stavelot, Belgium..

Starting from P56 after a technical problem in the beginning of qualifying. Driver had never done a single lap in Spa, not even qualifying. Passes 55 cars and wins.

He's got that little 1600cc Ford wound up tight.
MG, Triumph, bathtub Porsche, Big Healy, Caterham, did I see a C2 Vette?, Beemer 2002, various street 911, water cooled Turbos - and he flogs an Escort to the win?

Many moons ago, I drove a mid '70's rental Ford Escort (1300cc four cylinder, 4 speed manual) in the UK. Of all the rental cars I've rented in Europe over the years , I would say this was my favourite. First car ever that I drove with radials...Michelin X...if I recall and I really liked the rear wheel drive.

It was just a basic Ford Escort, but I found it had some zip, handled tight corners really well. When I drove it hard in the twisties it reminded me of my '62 Volvo PV 544s with it's twin carb B19 engine. Both the PV544 and the Escort were 'rally proved' to a degree as these basic cars were, when modified somewhat, were successful in car rallies back then.

The Escort that I rented with a 1.3 liter didn't have the snap of my 1.8 liter , twin SU carb Volvo...but they were both nicely balanced cars for their time...handling, braking, some acceleration.

It was nice to drive a basic, rear wheel sedan...manual transmission, manual everything...no electronic gimcrackery such as 'auto shut off' at traffic lights...something that is currently driving me nuts in our new vehicle.

And if you only drive short runs for a while, that electronic box of tricks flattens the oversized battery by its stop-start shenanigans. Do that a few times and a new battery is called for and they’re really expensive.

Yes!

A good driver, a lightweight and nimble car, and a great little engine.

Some of the V-8 cars proved difficult, but not impossible to pass completely. The Mustang and a couple 911's took more than one pass to stay passed.

Another last to winner video......beauty...
That Escort and all the other cars racing are far removed from the road version.
The you tube label said "crazy driving" .. from that video I doubt it very much...Yes he wrange the heck out of it but not thrashing it...just good race craft..
Enjoyed immensely.......... and then watched more......whoops its bed-time.
