Yes it is.

Pioneer PL112D.

Bought it new in 1978 or 1979.

Here is my other gear in 1980.

Sansui AU7900 amp/receiver, JVC tapedeck, and my old Realistic receiver providing FM signal to the Sansui.
Nice one.

I'm listening to Dire Straits on the Pioneer PL12D with a Pioneer KX-440 amp, right now.

Both date from 1974.

Nice reminds me of my Yamaha receiver, Pioneer cassette tape deck, Yamaha speakers and Yamaha turntable that I bought in 1979. I always loved the soft glow of the stereo receiver and cassette deck lights at night.

Oh and the music quality was great too, as long as I remembered not to stomp around the turntable.

Haha, yes. Wood floor house so I only play LPs when I'm home alone.

I downsized house when I last moved around five years ago, and cleared out all my LPs and my deck (a Thorens TD160 with SME 3009 arm and Shure V15-4 cartridge) as I hadn’t played them for years. The belt had gone all gooey so as I’d gone CD many years previously I decided that as I’d already pretty much replaced all my treasured performances on CD anyway, that as I’d have no room for them, they had to go.

I’d had a Leak 2200 amp since 1975 but that failed just before the move, so replaced it with a Marantz class A amp. I still use the Leak 2030 speakers I also got in 1975, supported at the low end by a Tannoy subwoofer.

Strangely enough, I don’t play CDs any more either - haven’t for some years. I still buy them, but immediately rip them to FLAC, archive the CD and play the music from a high-resolution player.

Back in the early '70's I wanted a reel to reel tape player and Bose speakers....think the model number was 901.

There's a lot of that going on over in the Doom&Gloom section

Oh, right.

Those guys know everything about everything.

Never mind.

We heard some awful screaming around midnight last night. It sounded like a goat being murdered or something, and the dog was going nuts. After checking the goats, they were all there away, so a bear hadn't dragged one out as we first thought. The noise was also coming from a different direction, but probably within 100 metres or so of the house. We also made sure nothing had somehow got stuck in the electric fence. No definite conclusion as to what it was, but after listening to some Youtube videos, I'm 99% sure it was a cougar screaming. Which means it's trying to attract a mate to here...

A cougar?

Screaming?

I thought we were far enough away from the house so we couldn’t be heard.

Sorry, eh?

Yep, if your house is in a nice spot you can be certain it was a nice spot a thousand years ago, too, and burials mounds were often placed on nice spots. We have three burial mounds 20m from our house wall, dated to around 1050. That is, we have two left intact. The third one was excavated in the 1930ies.

Edit:
Note to Bert: The burial mounds are from around 1050 AD, not our house walls (they are from mid 1990ies).

Nope, he was an Icelander who died in Greenland. His father was born in Norway, though.

I still buy the occasional CD and it's usually music from the mid '60's, early '70's a golden era in music for my generation...and some might say the golden era in music...period. Just joking...of course.

The last concert we went to featured a well known singer of international repute, who got his start in the '60's and his performance/voice....50+ years later... was ...let's say...well past his best before date. I'm still thinking about how much equipment/ music we could of bought with the $ 400 CAD we spent on good tickets.

After I bought a CD...the best of ? ?...which was recorded when he could hold a tune and that's how I prefer to listen to his song styling's.

In my province we have perhaps the largest numbers of people with Icelandic background outside of Iceland. Many Icelanders immigrated here in the 1870's/'80's and they have done very well .
