I'm a bit surprised out here that we do not have seem to have bratwurst, as in our provincial demographics I believe that people with German ancestry are # 3 in terms of the % of numbers in our province.. ...so we may have bratwurst and I just never noticed. I have been known to miss the blindingly obvious before, on many an occasion.
Rob, I see you are in St. Louis, Mo. When I was a little kid my parents and I visited some relatives who lived in St. Louis and I recall having an extended family picnic there in some park, by a big river. Must of been the Missouri, if I have that right. Nope, I had that wrong,
it was the Mississippi .
Anyways it was a hot dog and potato salad type of meal...or so I thought.....maybe, just maybe, I did sample a bratwurst back in the mid '50's at a park along the shores of the Mississippi river in St. Louis.
As a 6 year old kid though...any type of wiener in a bun...looked like a hot dog to me.
BTW, I also recall going to the St. Louis Zoo when on that trip.
Was I impressed...saw my first (and only) Orangutan.
