Stopped by my buddy's place after work Friday. We went for a ride in his 1967 Dart GT convertible.

The last time we took it for a spin there was no carpet in it, and the seats weren't bolted to the floor. All better this time, but the top still needs to be installed.

But hey, it's a convertible, and it is summertime, so who needs a top?

Interesting back story on this car.

My friend and I have some mutual friends, 3 brothers, 2 sisters. The youngest sister died in the early 1980's from cancer. The oldest brother died a few years ago. The second to the oldest passed last year. He owned this convertible before he died, having started building it for his wife, who died from cancer about two years ago. After she died, and he got cancer, he gave it to my buddy, who gathered the rest of what was needed and finished (well, almost) the restoration.

Nice one. Those red sidewalls are perfectly correct for that era car.

Oh, the tyres are there, underneath those ample . . . . . . . . . fenders.

Did you see the other car pictures I posted?

Here is a shot of two of those cars.

The left one is one of 100 made.

No, I missed that, sorry. Although, I'm more interested in the '57 Custom on the right!

But you'll have to explain what makes that one so special!

The right rear. The plate is Oregon, but I could't make out the date on the rego tab.

I see someone has helped themselves to the trim rings around the taillights and the trunk lock / badge.

Well, only 100 were ever manufactured.

The 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt. 427 twin carb with high rise manifold, fully reworked underpinnings to accommodate the massive engine, fiberglass hood, fenders and doors, plexiglass side curtains and back window, and a bunch of other stuff. Factory race car. Drive from the dealer to the strip, locked, cocked and ready to roll.

Really good Wiki: Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt - Wikipedia

Notice the "missing" headlight. Same on the other side. Air inlets for the dual 4 barrel carbs.

Pretty sad looking Custom 300. (I could not see from the other shot if it was a Custom or a Custom 300)

Well, that is very rare then. I like the air intake idea!
No doubt very collectable once restored.

That 427 Fairlane...how was that acquired ? Does it still have it's original powertrain ? Wonder what shape the rest of the car is in ?

For Ford fans that Fairlane 427 would be one of the ultimates to collect.

Having only my Tamron 135 with me I couldn't get close for pictures, and I was shooting around a bunch of junk and other old cars and equipment. This place used to be a machine shop, so there is lots of stuff in the way.

There was some guy standing there when we stopped, and my buddy asked about the cars, and if we could take some pictures. About all I got was what I related here earlier, the owner was not there at the time, won't sell anything, or even talk to anyone about selling anything, has no family, and is dying of diabetes.

But yes, if it is an authentic Thunderbolt, it could be worth 6 figures, but in the current condition, nothing close to that.
