That is a decent jack. Very handy.
Really good for squeezing in and out of those tight spaces at Saks Fifth Avenue.

A friend had an old 1970's Chevy SUV truck with 2WD. He was an ardent hunter and fisherman and he would find himself in very traction limited areas on a regular basis, and as a result would get stuck fairly often.

But he had a Hi Lift Jack and if stuck in mud or snow, would put the Hi Lift jack under either front or rear bumper (sometimes alternate between both if the whole vehicle was lodged in) lift whichever truck end was stuck ...to a certain height and then push the truck off the jack sideways and move his truck out of the snowdrift or mud that way. Hey...it worked ! I know. I've seen him do it.

He said 4WD, a locking axle, a strong winch and proper tires would of been good, but the Hi Lift Jack worked well, although it could take some time to push his truck sideways till he got out of the particular dilemma . A tip, was to keep a plywood base to keep the jack base from sinking in the morass.

He was the closest to a mountain man that I ever came across.

My wife says I got a lot of stories, most of them with some truth in them. I sometimes feel like the old guy in the State Farm Insurance Company advert.....where he says..."at state farm insurance we know a lot, because we see a lot."

I'm not an insurance company, but I'm a guy of an older vintage and as a result, I've seen a lot ...in my lifetime.

For the non North Americans out there...State Farm Insurance in a long time American insurance company.

I've never seen it done, but I've heard of the technique.

Yep. He liked the "Aldi's shoe polish".
I'm quite sure that, given a $3.00 bottle and a $30.00 bottle, I couldn't tell you which was which. That's not to say I wouldn't necessarily taste a difference and prefer one over the other, but I'd likely have no idea which was the cheap one.

Me too.

But I always know the taste of a good beer.

And someone around here led me down the path of savoring a nice shot of scotch now and then.

My favourite non domestic beer of yesteryear....Newcastle Brown Ale.

My favourite Canadian beer ......Molson's Canadian.

My favourite current beer, Budweiser's Prohibition...zero beer. Some may scorn...some may sniff at a zero beer.......but this stuff is surprisingly good and has a wonderful beer taste....to my 'buds'.

My top single malt Scotch Whisky ...Glenlivet.

The story of the man who started it all...Glenlivet wise.

Newcastle Brown has a somewhat vegemitey flavour.

Clearly something to do with the yeast.

Vegemite....I had to look that up. I've never had it, but I don't think I'd like it.

Isn't it Australian Marmite?

I don't know, but it sounds like it might be.

All I really know is that as far as spreads go, I'm a fan of Kraft Smooth peanut butter. You can't beat it, it's good for ya too, as my grandma used to say. She also said it sticks to your ribs.

When it comes to peanut butter I prefer crunchy. Which reminds me, in the UK you can get Marmite flavoured peanut butter.

I prefer crunchy too, but when it comes to Marmite-flavoured (yes, I've seen it) there is only one question: why??? Marmite should be confined to hot buttered toast!

I agree, the Marmite peanut butter is also over priced. If you really want it you could make your own
